I should probably introduce myself. And let people know where I stand in regards to the gospel of Jesus Christ. I want there to be no mistake.
I am Bryan Summers. I am 49 years old. I'll tell a little of my history and then bare my testimony. Below I'm on my favorite trail in the world. The Timberline Trail on Mt Hood.

Sometimes, I wonder if Social Media itself is (one of the possible interpretations of) the great and spacious building.

Bit of a touchy subject, but I think members should take this seriously. The church has made a point of bringing it up repeatedly. Elder Cook has been beating this drum since 2012. Yesterday's video is here: newsroom.churchofjesuschrist…

Well, I've decided to change my X handle to my Christian name and us my actual photo in the profile picture.
If Elder Cook says it is wise to not be anonymous, I wanna follow him.
I do plan on starting up stories about the apostles soon.

Patrick Stewart asked McKellen for advice on Macbeth.
- Well you’ve got that speech, tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow…
- Yes. But I know what that means.
- I think perhaps you don’t. The important word isn’t ‘tomorrow,’ it’s ‘and.’
Stewart lit straight up.
If you want to see a good example of explaining and defending our faith while also being a peacemaker follow @PTSPentax .
Some may do it as good. Nobody doesn’t better.
His comments and responses are as good as anything on X.

When friends of different faith traditions and backgrounds come together in open dialogue, we discover our shared values and collective desire for a better world.
It was my pleasure to represent The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and participate in a special dinner program and intercultural forum hosted by Grand Mufti Sheikh-ul-Islam Pashazade earlier this week in Baku, Azerbaijan.
We were grateful to be recognized for recently hosting the G20 Interfaith Forum in Salt Lake City, Utah, by the Grand Mufti during this gathering. Our hope is for all to be peacemakers, love God and our neighbor, and know we are all children of God.
Excellent essay from a good friend of members of our faith.
He's right, you know. Though it convicts me and I have some repenting to do. He's right.

“THIS WASN’T A COINCIDENCE.”
———————————————
@GerritWGong, I know you probably won’t see this, but I wanted to thank you. My sister in law FaceTimed me just now with tears of joy after having met you.
She’s been inactive for a while.
She’s been trying to go back to church.
Her boyfriend decided to start taking lessons recently as well.
They met with the missionaries recently and she wrote in her journal as well as prayed for a sign that what she is doing is right. If she’s on the right path of going back to church. If all this even matters.
Then you ran into her and her boyfriend shortly after that. I won’t share the rest on here, but I know what she felt; she will always remember.
Then before you left, you grabbed her by her hand, looked her in the eyes and said: (Her name), this wasn’t a coincidence!”
She said, “Troy. I know he spoke to me, but it felt like Christ himself was speaking to me!” I told her as Christ’s anointed, He was. He did. Through you!”
Thank you for recognizing and ministering to “the one.” Or in this case, two.

The thing I can't stand about content like this is that it's so unlike the model the apostle Paul gave to Christians.
Assume you believe Mormonism is a cult. Fine, but notice how Paul never mocked the Greco-Roman cultus. He took it seriously. So, why don't you?

In case you missed it, my wife and I started a candy business that did $250k in year one.
What people don’t know is what it took to make the first sale.
This is Part 2 of the series “How We Built This Candy Truck.”
Today: THE BUILD, Welding and Woodworking.
(Part 1 is linked in the replies.)
The man is just good to the core! I’m proud to be his co-religionist.
My husband and a partner had a window cleaning business in college (in Utah). Mitt hired them to do the windows at his house where he was hosting a big event for donors later that day. My husband wasn’t at that job, but his partner told us that Mitt was apologetic, saying he “usually does it himself” and he kept offering to help—and asking if he was ok—while he was up on the ladder.

Brigham Young is my sixth-great-grandfather.
Those 2,500 soldiers sent to Utah in 1857 were delayed by Mormon militias under his direction. Supply trains were burned, cattle scattered, and the army was forced to spend a brutal winter near Fort Bridger.
When the army finally entered Utah, it didn't destroy the fledgling society my ancestors had built. Instead, the soldiers' need for food, supplies, and services brought a massive influx of cash into an isolated, struggling economy with limited outside trade.
And when the army was recalled at the outbreak of the Civil War in 1861, roughly $4 million worth of military supplies were auctioned off for pennies on the dollar.
The force sent to subdue the Mormons ended up helping finance the very settlements it had come to control.
Brigham Young didn't fold like a chair. He protected his people, negotiated a peaceful resolution, and saw his community benefit economically from the army's presence.
History is an important area of study.

Brigham Young had 56 wives and folded like a lawn chair when the U.S. Army sent 2500 soldiers out there. We shouldn’t disrespect visitors but history is an important area of study.

I grew up mainstream Christianity during my preteen years, and grew to appreciate the LDS way of life in college. From my perspective, I don’t understand why those differences in religion have to create so much division and hostility if we both serve Jesus.

I’m sorry, but there are only 2 “national brands” in college sports - Notre Dame and BYU

"If we have to go independent, I like our chances because we are a national brand."
