I have a sister-in-law at the MTC.
Elder Gong spoke at the devotional tonight.
He happened to walk past her, shook her hand, and she thanked him for speaking to (L.)
He said “that’s your sister?”
She said, “yeah!”
He said “tell her I said hi.”
She said, “I will.”
He said, “No. Make sure you tell her I said hi! She’s a special young lady.”
Now her bf - who he also spoke with before - is going to get baptized?!
Elder Gong, is about to be in our family lore for eternity 😂😂😂😂😂😂

Sometimes, I wonder if Social Media itself is (one of the possible interpretations of) the great and spacious building.

Bit of a touchy subject, but I think members should take this seriously. The church has made a point of bringing it up repeatedly. Elder Cook has been beating this drum since 2012. Yesterday's video is here: newsroom.churchofjesuschrist…

Patrick Stewart asked McKellen for advice on Macbeth.
- Well you’ve got that speech, tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow…
- Yes. But I know what that means.
- I think perhaps you don’t. The important word isn’t ‘tomorrow,’ it’s ‘and.’
Stewart lit straight up.

When friends of different faith traditions and backgrounds come together in open dialogue, we discover our shared values and collective desire for a better world.
It was my pleasure to represent The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and participate in a special dinner program and intercultural forum hosted by Grand Mufti Sheikh-ul-Islam Pashazade earlier this week in Baku, Azerbaijan.
We were grateful to be recognized for recently hosting the G20 Interfaith Forum in Salt Lake City, Utah, by the Grand Mufti during this gathering. Our hope is for all to be peacemakers, love God and our neighbor, and know we are all children of God.

The thing I can't stand about content like this is that it's so unlike the model the apostle Paul gave to Christians.
Assume you believe Mormonism is a cult. Fine, but notice how Paul never mocked the Greco-Roman cultus. He took it seriously. So, why don't you?

In case you missed it, my wife and I started a candy business that did $250k in year one.
What people don’t know is what it took to make the first sale.
This is Part 2 of the series “How We Built This Candy Truck.”
Today: THE BUILD, Welding and Woodworking.

Brigham Young is my sixth-great-grandfather.
Those 2,500 soldiers sent to Utah in 1857 were delayed by Mormon militias under his direction. Supply trains were burned, cattle scattered, and the army was forced to spend a brutal winter near Fort Bridger.
When the army finally entered Utah, it didn't destroy the fledgling society my ancestors had built. Instead, the soldiers' need for food, supplies, and services brought a massive influx of cash into an isolated, struggling economy with limited outside trade.
And when the army was recalled at the outbreak of the Civil War in 1861, roughly $4 million worth of military supplies were auctioned off for pennies on the dollar.
The force sent to subdue the Mormons ended up helping finance the very settlements it had come to control.
Brigham Young didn't fold like a chair. He protected his people, negotiated a peaceful resolution, and saw his community benefit economically from the army's presence.
History is an important area of study.

Brigham Young had 56 wives and folded like a lawn chair when the U.S. Army sent 2500 soldiers out there. We shouldn’t disrespect visitors but history is an important area of study.

I grew up mainstream Christianity during my preteen years, and grew to appreciate the LDS way of life in college. From my perspective, I don’t understand why those differences in religion have to create so much division and hostility if we both serve Jesus.

I’m sorry, but there are only 2 “national brands” in college sports - Notre Dame and BYU

Latter-day Saints have always affirmed being Christian.
By definition, we are Christian. By definition, we are the most Christian.

I would counter with this: nowhere did Christ ever command us to argue about the nature of His relationship between Himself, the Father, and the Holy Spirit. Paul actually commanded the opposite — "Avoid foolish controversies… and quarrels about the law, for they are unprofitable and worthless" (Titus 3:9), and "Have nothing to do with foolish, ignorant controversies; you know that they breed quarrels" (2 Tim 2:23).
And it seems that many Christians on X spend so much time doing what Christ never commanded us to do that they never get around to doing what He actually commanded us TO do.
The LDS, in the meantime, are out there living what Christ commanded, each and every day. More than 70,000 full-time missionaries — most of them teenagers and young adults paying their own way — are knocking on doors on every continent, doing the Great Commission as a daily job rather than a debating topic. Their members fast two meals a month and give the money to feed the poor. Their bishops' storehouses, welfare farms, and humanitarian arm move well over a billion dollars a year in aid to people of every faith and none. Every member is assigned specific families to minister to and check on. Their local clergy are unpaid volunteers. They abstain, they tithe, they show up.
Christ gave us the test Himself: "By their fruits ye shall know them" (Matt 7:20). He did not say, "By their metaphysics ye shall know them."
So who is actually following Christ?

On the contrary, the reason we say it - and prepare yourself, this is going to be a real shock - is that we actually believe it.
