This doesn’t mean give up. It means ramp up to even more urgently wrest control of the reins of power from those who created this chaos. For four decades we trusted prior generations to take climate action. All they’ve really done in that time is protect capital and allow the rise of anti-intellectualism and climate denial. They have failed to lead and have proven themselves unfit to continue holding such responsibility. Time for a generation who will place justice, equality and the prevention of ecosystem collapse right at the heart of government, front and centre of every policy decision. Let’s be clear, the very future of humanity and all we hold beautiful in the world is at stake. We must change our politics and create a better world for everybody, one that preserves and strengthens our environment and values every human life. Or face the alternative - the lucky few of us left trying to endure in a technofascist hellscape of mass war, suffering and poverty where five rich guys control everything and preside over a blighted planet.
Stop for one moment and just consider the betrayal of young people. Just think about it. Why should they respect society if this is what we’ve left them.

Hi Ben, this is a truly disgusting (and cowardly) tweet. So glad I have spent the past year turning down your repeated invites to appear on your show. For the record, this is a Jewish journalist interviewing the Jewish *author* of the IHRA antisemitism definition for Zeteo, and it is Stern himself who thinks it’s a mistake to use the IHRA definition in the way the government is. But since you can’t engage with the substance of any of this, you resort to smear by insinuation.
Zeteo quickly becoming what many suspected it would, and now going all out to campaign against changes designed to protect Jewish children from being abused in schools.

The fact that the Labour Party has not expelled Tom Watson for joining Palantir just proves the party has not changed under Andy Burnham The Labour Party is rotten to the core
So Palantir buying a Labour Lord was good value for their money after all. Cash for access. Stinks.

WAR IS PEACE. FREEDOM IS SLAVERY. IGNORANCE IS STRENGTH. Three chilling slogans emblazoned on the Ministry of Truth in George Orwell's 1984, capturing one of the novel's most disturbing concepts. Doublethink. The ability to hold two contradictory beliefs simultaneously and accept both as true. In Orwell's dystopia, doublethink was far more than simple hypocrisy. It was a fundamental tool of totalitarian control, conditioning people to accept contradictions without question, even when they defied the evidence of their own eyes. Fast forward to Britain in 2026... Just two weeks ago, @UKLabour approved drilling at the Jackdaw gas field. Now @Ed_Miliband tells the world that Britain's international climate leadership is backed by “strong action at home.” MORE FOSSIL FUEL DRILLING IS CLIMATE LEADERSHIP. Doublethink. When governments present policies that perpetuate a crisis as evidence of solving it, they ask the public to disregard the glaring contradiction between their words and actions. Orwell imagined the totalitarian world in 1984, but this isn't fiction. These are real decisions, with real consequences, unfolding before our eyes. And while we look to @reformparty_uk and the @Conservatives on the far right as the warning signs of authoritarianism, maybe we should pay closer attention to what's already being normalised in government today.
Climate leadership starts at home. Stop Rosebank.

Replying to @bbclaurak
@bbclaurak's interview with @ZackPolanski was an abomination. The sheer absurdity of a journalist approaching an interview with a blatantly loaded, pro-Israel, genocide-washing standpoint, then accusing the politician of evasion when he refuses to accept her morally bankrupt framing. The roles are completely inverted. The journalist's framing becomes the very thing that deserves interrogation. Who is holding the journalists and media to account for their complicty??
Hi @bbclaurak, Zionism has resulted in the bombing of children & the killing of tens of thousands of innocent people in Gaza. Again - the actual controversy is the Labour Government are arming that & the BBC 'debate' if it's racist. How's that for answering the question?

The tide is turning against Israel & its defenders, against permanent war & its defenders, against war profiteering & its beneficiaries. Most people are realising that the system is deeply corrupt & rigged. These changes could herald a massive structural shift in our politics in the UK, the US & the EU

This is so strong and clear. You can't help but notice that if this was in the UK context - you wouldn't be able to get a single one of these sentences out without a journalist barracking the person saying it constantly. The UK media is in quite a state.
I've been in politics for a quarter century. It's hard to express how staggering it is to see a conversation like this on corporate US media. The Morning Joe panel gobsmacked by the directness of @AbdulElSayed's points. (clip via @DropSiteNews)

A fuller account of the Palestine Action proscription case in the UK Supreme Court than you are likely to find anywhere else. This gives a flavour of the Kafkaesque proceedings (under the UK’s draconian terrorism laws, and made necessary by the Burnham government’s decision to maintain Starmer’s ban): “Lord Sales asked whether, if he wrote a judgement opposing the proscription of Palestine Action, that would itself be an offence. Raza Hussain replied that on the ground people were being arrested for just opposing proscription, as well as those being arrested specifically for supporting Palestine Action.” What kind of democracy where you cannot even advocate changing a government decision? What kind of morality does this government have, when @Ed_Miliband can say “the Palestine protesters were right”, but then supports this attempt to keep the ban?

This is how far Andy Burnham and the Labour Party have allowed themselves to go. @Ed_Miliband, you said the protesters were right—have you no shame that this is being said in your name?
Lawyers for the UK government today claimed in the Supreme Court that all these pensioners and priests getting arrested was itself an act of terrorism: as it was Palestine Action seeking to overwhelm the justice system. They really did say that!

BREAKING: Iran is now distributing iodine tablets to communities within a two to three kilometer radius of its sensitive nuclear facilities over fears of a US nuclear attack, a Health Ministry official confirms to The Times. "Yes, we are distributing iodine. Trump can no longer be trusted. He may go through with this crime," the official said. "Everyone knows that very little time remains. If America does not use a nuclear weapon against Pickaxe Mountain, it will be a miracle," an Iranian analyst with close ties to the IRGC said. Senior figures across the government, the IRGC and the regular armed forces expect Pickaxe to be among the principal targets of the coming war. Iraq activated nuclear emergency plans and border radiation monitoring yesterday.

In the UK, you are not allowed to stop the genocide of Palestinians. In the UK, you are encouraged to participate in the genocide of Palestinians. This must be stopped.
🚨BREAKING: Huda Ammori’s appeal to the Supreme Court over the ban on Palestine Action has concluded. Here’s our summary: Ammori was given permission to appeal the ban on one ground, focussing on whether it is compatible with freedom of expression and assembly. This represents the last legal opportunity to challenge the proscription in Britain, with the fate of thousands arrested for allegedly supporting Palestine Action hanging in the balance. Day one saw Ammori’s lawyers argue that the ban represents a “colossal invasion” of the rights to freedom of expression and assembly enshrined in the European Convention on Human Rights. Raza Husain KC told the court that less than one percent of the group’s actions (3 in 385) over a period of five years had been classed as terrorism – even using the government’s overly broad definition. Husain said Palestine Action, unlike other proscribed groups, had sought to prevent genocide and uphold international humanitarian law. The group’s objectives were thus “aligned with rather than abhorrent to liberal democratic values”. The court also heard that Palestine Action fell “within the British tradition of direct action protest groups motivated by conscience” such as the Suffragettes, who used more extreme methods. They resorted to “fire-bombing, arson, serious property damage”, Husain said, refuting the lower court’s claim that they were pacific, and were ultimately “proven right by history”. “The uncontroverted evidence shows that [the] suffragettes, anti-war groups, environmental groups, animal rights protesters all used tactics similar to or more extreme than Palestine Action yet they were not regarded as terrorists or proscribed”, the court was told. Civil society organisations and UN experts had also “expressed deep concern at the proscription”, the court heard. A former MI6 director, Richard Barrett, had been amongst those saying in terms that “proscription goes too far”. A new argument was also introduced, with Husain raising the prospect that the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg could conclude that arrests for “supporting” Palestine Action were in “breach of convention rights”. If that happens, a broad swath of terrorism convictions could be quashed, contributing to a broader “crisis in confidence” in the UK’s terrorism laws arising from the arrests of thousands of people for holding placards. The five-judge panel in the Supreme Court, all men, expressed a general aversion to these submissions. Former British diplomat Craig Murray estimated that Ammori’s lawyers were disrupted over 100 times, making it difficult for them to develop their arguments. Outside the court, protesters held placards inspired by a tweet from Sarah Helm, wife of the UK government’s National Security Adviser Jonathan Powell. She had written “God help us authors who support Palestine and Palestine Action“ and was not arrested, but several outside the Supreme Court brandishing similar messages were. Sir James Eadie KC, acting for the home secretary, closed day one and opened day two. Eadie told the court that attempts to characterise Palestine Action “as part of a long and honourable tradition of civil disobedience on conscientious grounds” were “completely at odds” with the lower courts’ rulings. He said that such arguments have “no substance whatsoever”, later declaring Palestine Action the “antithesis of civil disobedience groups”. He went on to argue that Palestine Action incidents had involved violence (Filton) and “throwing pyrotechnics where people were being evacuated” (Thales). Eadie continued that Palestine Action’s “cell structure”, a “lack of candour” from Ammori, the group’s “escalating trajectory”, and the institutional competence vested in the home secretary, weighed in favour of upholding the proscription. Minutes ago, Husain delivered his closing statement for Ammori. He declared: “There are probably hundreds of thousands of people whose profoundly important rights of political speech, association and assembly on the most acute moral and political issue of our times - that is to say Israel’s annihilation of an already besieged and occupied people, and the role of UK-based corporate actors in that atrocity - those rights have been extinguished or interfered with”. A “closed” session will take place this afternoon, meaning evidence is being submitted by Britain’s security agencies that neither Ammori nor her lawyers can see or contest. In a statement, Ammori said: “The overwhelming evidence presented to the Supreme Court by UN experts, Amnesty International, Liberty and even the former Director of MI6 is that this dangerous and disproportionate proscription has criminalised legitimate protest as terrorism for the first time in British history, unleashing an unprecedented assault on free speech in this country”. The court is expected to reserve judgement until a later date.

I think of Naziism when I hear about tens of thousands of slaughtered children, cities laid to waste, administrative detention, the bulldozing of corpses, the people being dehumanized, forced displacement, aggression towards neighbouring countries and talk of racial superiority
Equating Zionism to Nazism proves that you have no fucking idea what Zionism is.

Our case was interrupted over 100 times. The government was not interrupted once. I didn't hold high hopes for the British 'justice' system, but I did expect to at least have our case heard. No matter what, we will keep fighting for actual justice to prevail.
This is sabotage in PA case… Lawyer: “In Thales no there was no attempt to avoid arrest” You then see 3 of the judges one after the other making the same incorrect point about the black team evading arrest (in different incidents) despite the lawyer correcting them each time!

I never cease to be disappointed by people who fail to understand the power of propaganda and the manufacturing of consent. Nobody - certainly not the establishment and their media - gave a rat's behind about the Green Party until it became a visible force for change under Zack's leadership. Then the weight of the mainstream billionaire-owned media was rained down on him personally, and the party as a whole. Gorton and Denton was the alarm bell that set the establishment scurrying. There are two things you can do at this juncture, Rupert: 1) Give in to the pressure, throw in the towel, and hanker after the days of being that quaint little party that everyone tolerated because it would never have any power, and was no threat to anyone or anything; or 2) Fight back. You choose. But if you choose the former, please have the decency to take a step back, and let those of us who want to do the latter get on with the job of creating a safe planet for everyone. Thank you. #BackZack

Ben, you should inform yourself before posting something like this. You don't appear to have even bothered to read the post or watched the interview. The IHRA definition is deeply controversial. Kenneth Stern, its effective author, has long raised concerns about how it is being employed to conflate antisemitism with legitimate advocacy for Palestinian rights. Over 400 , mostly Jewish, scholars of the Holocaust and antisemitism also condemned it for the same reasons and recommended an alternative definition. BRISMES and ELSC ( bodies you should be aware of as a journalist) produced an authoritative analysis of how it is being used in British Universtities to suppress criticism of Israel's oppression of Palestinians. Bell's report is shoddy and based on the thinnest of evidence. It is shameful enough that journalists like yourself are not bothering to examine the evidence let alone that you try to smear those who are doing their jobs properly.

Is the British judiciary deeply corrupted? It seems to be actively participating in & maintaining the criminal justice chaos that is one of the consequences of the indefensible proscription of Palestine Action
Today at the Supreme Court, counsel for Huda Ammori were interrupted by judges 147 times in 245 minutes as they tried to set out their case. 129 of those interruptions were actively hostile and contradictory. It meant counsel had to substantially curtail their case for time.

Fun fact: Ben Kentish and I knew each other at university, where I served as a rep for the Jewish society, encouraging less religious Jews to join the J-Soc, which was quite politically and religiously conservative at the time. 1/2
