The Shark Fin Sign: concern for acute coronary occlusion as the QRS and T wave merge secondary to extreme ST elevation. It may get confused for hyperkalemia. #ACS #ECG #EPeeps #cardiotwitter #radialfirst

Iliac artery CTOs were previously a surgical fem-fem bypass, but now we are reconstructing legs without the need for open surgery. Dual femoral access, human floss, shockwave lithotripsy and Viabahn endograft. One hour of work. Outpatient procedure #endovascularfirst #savinglimbs

Chest X-rays are powerful tools and often overlooked in era of CT imaging. Kerley B lines suggest CHF and or mitral stenosis. Termed by Irish radiologist James Kerley in 1933. And I got to treat one of his family members. #history #medtwitter #CardioTwitter #CXR #CHF #smallworld

According to the Centers for Diseases and Control Prevention (CDC), around 1 in every 604 flights will have a medical emergency, ranging from simple nausea to diversions for major conditions such as cardiac arrest. I've used the EMK box onboard. #LearnCPR #ImproveMedKits #Educate

I'd also add insulin to the kit. 10u regular. One time I had a hyperglycemic passenger. Hydration was all I had to offer. You can ask other passengers for medications in last ditch efforts. FoodForThought. Be aware. Care for your fellow human beings. Volunteer when they need you

CMS finally states "CAS and CEA are similarly effective in patients with either standard or high surgical risk, and who are symptomatic with carotid artery stenosis ≥ 50% or asymptomatic with stenosis ≥ 70%" There's a place for TCAR, CEA and CAS. tctmd.com/news/cms-issues-pr…

Looks like lead! But it isn’t! Equivalent radiation protection with barium sulfate, bismuth oxide impregnated fabric. Lighter washable why didn’t I know bout this?

🧵1/ With patient permission. This is one of our I6 PGY2s (right) doing a mitral repair, a superb PA (left) is assist and an attending is 2nd assist. A resident anesthesiologist is at bedside. Many patients wonder how residents participate in their care. One asked this week:

A robot can technically do steps of a #TAVR, but to have the ability to critically think, evaluate, predict complications, treat complications, and take long term responsibility is another level. TAVR is an advanced #cardiac procedure for trained doctors, not ARNPs #CardioTwitter
Replying to @GHCardiology
@GHCardiology this is so inappropriate on so many levels. Being a TAVR operator is not just about deploying a valve, but working up the pt for the optimal mx of their AS, managing the patient prior to procedure and dealing with complications. This is not safe for patients particularly given that there are numerous TAVI trained medically qualified operators in UK. You have also taken away training opportunities for medical / surgical trainees. @ncurzen @Ryvetsprog @pomyers @SVRaoMD @GreggWStone @VictorDayan1 @Hragy @mirvatalasnag @tavrkapadia @TAVRBot @TheBJCA @BCIS_uk @TCTMD @ajaykirtane @EAPCIPresident @alaide_chief
