If Jesus Christ came down and said “Look, nationalism is against my design.” This would give nationalists serious pause. But if He came down and told the egalitarians that equality is against His design, I suspect they would call Him false, and take up arms against Him.

I love prequel memes. And I’ve been enjoying the sort of Zoomer take on the Star Wars prequels floating around X for the last couple of days. A lot of these takes hinge on the idea of Anakin as representative of the white male experience in a progressive culture, where the good guys are actually the bad guys, and the bad guys are the good guys. And there is a good deal of truth to that. But I think there’s something important being overlooked, something that is central to how I read the story. I see the first six Star Wars movies as essentially being about fatherhood. Anakin has no father. He comes from a single-parent home. Qui-Gon Jinn takes an interest in Anakin as a person. He is a benevolent fatherly presence who advocates for Anakin, sees his potential, and wants to protect and guide him. And part of that protection is even from the Jedi Order itself, since Qui-Gon disagrees with some of its ways. The great tragedy of that first movie is that Qui-Gon, Anakin’s only true father figure, dies. Anakin is left to be raised by a cold Jedi Order and Obi-Wan Kenobi, who functions more like an older brother. Obi-Wan loves Anakin, but he is no father. Without fatherly guidance and protection, Anakin struggles to enter the world of men and is used by two sides: a cold, detached Jedi Order and a manipulative false father in Palpatine. And just as Anakin becomes the one thing he never had, a father, he loses much of his humanity, his wife, and his family. That is the central tragedy of the prequels. Now consider the original trilogy. You have a son who is raised by a father figure in Uncle Owen and eventually finds himself under the care of a much older and more fatherly Obi-Wan. So, Luke was actually fathered, unlike Anakin. The series slowly turns into Luke’s quest to see his father redeemed. In the end, Luke is unwilling to kill his father. And Anakin finds his redemption by killing his own false father to rescue his son. That is the triumph of the original trilogy: a son pulling his father back from the darkness by becoming the man his father once desired to be. And that father, even at the very end of his life, being awakened and doing what it takes to give his son a future. That’s how I read Star Wars. The tragedy of fatherlessness, and the triumph of sonship and fatherhood.

Regardless of who wins the US Senate race from Texas this year, James Talarico or Ken Paxton, I will say this: The anti-Paxton people have done generational damage to whatever they think their brand of Republican or conservatism is. They told us to hold our nose and vote for your candidates in the general and challenge them in the primaries. They told us our differences, even our concerns about their candidate's character, didn't matter. We did as they asked. Over and over and over again. Because they needed our votes and the alternative was worse. We're asking you to do what you told us to do: Hold your nose and vote for our candidates in the general and challenge them in the primaries. You are refusing. Over and over and over again. In an election where the alternative is the worst it has ever been. We'll remember that next time you need our votes. And before you say it: You WILL need our votes. If you didn't, your Cornyn would have won the Primary and be cruising to an easy election and Democrats would be failing in elections all over the nation. That isn't happening, and that didn't happen. You think all the moderates you're alienating will vote for your candidates to make up for all the conservatives you're also alienating? It's like RINO Inc is TRYING to make themselves utterly electorally non-viable by alienating literally everyone.

The Star Wars movies are probably a more useful way to categorize generations than the conventional terms. Original Trilogy belonged to people born before 1978 or so Prequel Trilogy belonged to people born after that but before 2005 Sequel Trilogy is trash, nobody wants it You forget: for we Millennials, the prequels were *our* star wars movies. We watched the original series as kids, but they weren't ours. They belonged to our parents and older siblings. We waited for 20 years to have our own, and the prequels are them. We loved Anakin first ackshually
Millennials will never get it.

It's not a mystery, as though people are just stupid I mean they are, but that's not what's going on here They aren't concerned with "resource allocation", that's not what the intuition is about. It's about privacy & control; e.g., "sovereignty"
sam: local inference is a terrible allocation of scarce resources “a lot of people want local inference, and somehow they assume that the problem is solved now because we have open-source models, we're going to be able to run them on our computers, and so we're not going to need all the stuff in the data centre but from a global allocation perspective, actually it's quite terrible to have everybody, like, have a bunch of the world's limited supply of DRAM sitting in their own computer and being used five percent of the time you want maximum utilisation in the cloud if you're trying to deal with this very supply-constrained environment somehow many people's intuition is the opposite of that”

When students began anti-Israel protests on college campuses we immediately got an antisemitism task force Funding was threatened, university administrators were replaced, students were deported But you can openly mock the assassination of Charlie Kirk and call for more violence and nothing will happen to you We know what it looks like when the administration wants to protect a group of people, they simply don’t care about protecting their own voters
At @UTSA for Pick Up the Mic, a student read a poem celebrating the assassination of Charlie Kirk with such glee, then told me I was brave to be out here without my neck covered. I told her I’d pray for her. This is the climate. We pick up the mic anyway.

Everything else aside, advocating for political violence on a guest visa should be an express track to having your visa cancelled. Any counter argument is just wrong and no other country would consider tolerating it.
Isa Cayahuga is not an American citizen, and our country should not tolerate her existence in our borders for a second longer. Her and her entire shitlib immigrant family need to be deported immediately.

Can confirm. I live in Collin County. Paxton by 8+ and Abbott by 15+ incoming. Talarico continues to cancel events and TV ads. They know it’s over. The Calvary has arrived. Most of us show up on Election Day. Blue wave cancelled folks!
Day 10 of early voting in Texas and a late post from me today. I drove to 10 different polling precincts in deep blue pockets and the lines were almost nonexistent. Will be driving around red precincts tomorrow. The data is starting to consolidate around Paxton by 8.

I would subscribe to a livestream that hunted these guys and beat the fool out of them
I’ve been red pilled, black pilled, white pilled, clear pilled. All the pills. I don’t even know which one this is, but it’s one of the strongest ones I’ve had in a long long time. The desperation in his voice. You can see the sight of his kids in his eyes when he says he’s supposed to be home with them. You can see the math he’s doing in his head as he calculates how much money he has left, and how much he needs for his mortgage, and when it’s due. What the hell is the American dream anymore? Is this what it’s about? Is there anyone who would say this guy isn’t working his ass off? For what? So that 25% of his income can go to a government that wastes it on a bunch of shit he didn’t vote for? Subsidizing the food he stocks grocery stores with for people who don’t work a 1,000th of how hard he works to buy groceries with EBT cards that he pays for, which then drives up the cost of groceries for him and his family that he pays for out of his paycheck because he’s doing it the right way. This entire system is shit. It’s shit. There is no nicer way to put it. It is dog. shit. This guy should be working a 9-5 at a job that gives him dignity so that he can be at home with his kids at a decent time. Instead he’s some jerk off’s content. His stressed out, end of his rope reaction is some asshole’s income. This is bleak stuff. Absolutely bleak.

Yes exactly. The politics of reform are like the movie Speed. You're on a bus that has to stay moving or else it blows up and everyone dies, except you also have to change the tires at the same time

If we allow the current GOP to be destroyed, the path to a better new right goes through a lengthy period of violence and oppression

Nobody has ever offered me a single historical example of successful accelerationism The example I witnessed personally, the Sunnis boycotting the Iraqi elections in 05 was disastrous for them
If the current political right is destroyed and the left has absolute totalitarian power to put you in a cage for the rest of your life on a whim, how do you think a new, real, nationalist right would ever emerge? Even if you think the current order is unbearably corrupt, you still have basic ability to organize and you still have freedom of speech. If you can’t succeed with those freedoms intact, how do you expect to succeed without them at all? It’s like being a slow runner and thinking that the solution is to amputate both of your legs!!!

If unwelcome strangers came into your house, you would be in the right to tell them to get out and it wouldn’t be mean or a failure to love them. One of the biggest problems normie evangelicals have is they absolutely cannot think in categories. I want foreigners to have the gospel and I want my grandchildren to have a nation. These are not mutually exclusive.

The greatest enemy of Christian government in America was the federal judiciary of the last 60 years. Many older conservatives today don’t understand that what they grew up with isn’t the American tradition—it’s 1960s radicalism. Or what some call the “post-war consensus.”

Gavin Ortlund filmed a video called “The Dangers of Christian Nationalism.” One of his chief concerns is the loss of religious toleration, a first amendment right that Ortlund considers to be sacrosanct. This is fascinating for a number of reasons. First of all, it reveals that Gavin has a religious devotion to the Constitution, over and above what he finds in Scripture. To be specific, it is the Constitution as viewed through the lens of 20th Century Liberalism. The founders never intended the 1A to protect demonic statues and Islamic ghettos. Secondly, Gavin does a Jesus juke, explaining that we actually win by losing. After accusing Christian nationalists of commingling the spiritual and the political realms, he actually does that himself by encouraging Christians to accept worldly losses (and even death) in order to be more than conquerors spiritually. Thirdly, Gavin’s a priori commitments to liberalism actually prevent him from what he says at the end, “So let us by all means do everything we can to now bring his lordship into every aspect of life, in all the ways that we can, including the political realm.” Ortlund has already conceded that public idolatry must be tolerated! So it’s not “by all means” in any sense at all. It would be more accurate to say “by all means that aren’t mean.” This is very much the same loser theology promoted by Phil Johnson and others, wherein we should vote for godly candidates and laws, but just don’t take it too far since we win by losing. Of course, this is all designed to ultimately discourage Christians from political engagement, or worse to permit them to vote for the left. As Gavin’s father Ray Ortlund posted in 2024, “Never Trump. This time Harris. Always Jesus.” 🤮
