At the World Bank Land Conference 2025, Shri Vivek Bharadwaj, Secretary, Ministry of Panchayati Raj, eloquently highlighted India’s achievements in land governance under the visionary leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. Referring to economist Hernando de Soto, Shri Vivek Bharadwaj underlined the transformative value of land monetization. Through the SVAMITVA Scheme, 68,000 sq km of rural land has been surveyed, unlocking $1.16 trillion worth of assets, translating into dignity, opportunity, and growth for millions. From a dairy farmer in Madhya Pradesh whose income rose after a loan backed by his land, to a woman in Rajasthan funding her daughter’s higher education abroad – SVAMITVA is enabling rural families to turn ownership into empowerment.
