Very sad news. The brilliant BBC lawyer Roger Law has died. So many BBC producers & reporters will be eternally grateful to Roger for getting their films on air over last four decades. He was a legendary figure, perhaps the best-ever lawyer in history of broadcast journalism.

There’s a direct connection between the Southport riots and Elon Musk. Not that he knows or cares. My column prospectmagazine.co.uk/ideas…

Elon Musk’s misinformation machine made the horrors of Southport much worse

The X owner’s commitment to free speech absolutism contributed to a whirlwind of false reporting around the perpetrator’s identity. Why does he seem to care so little about the truth?

How can I forget this moment - we were reporting on the Dutch election in 2017, looking into what we now know as the future. Sad decision.

I once stumbled across the Dutch PM doing a live Q&A in The Hague. I said I was from Newsnight, could I ask a question. His response: “Of course!” Then he turned to his Dutch audience and said: “Newsnight, an excellent programme. You can watch it on BBC 2 at 11:30 Dutch time.”

Issam was the sweetest colleague. He let me take a kitten I was nursing on assignment once, and made it a bed in his helmet. But he always reminded me, whenever I got careless: “Our goal is to cover the news, not become it”. I am so sorry this happened to you my dear Issam. RIP.

The Sun claims tonight it "never alleged criminality" and blames other media for "reading too much" into its reporting. Like yesterday's Sun story (still on website) saying the BBC figure "could be charged by cops & face years in prison."
