BBC Scotland has already turned yesterday's storm into an attack on the SNP Govt. Katie Hunter interviewed Stephen Flynn after some businesses were flooded and pressed him on what he was going to do about it. Whether the SNP Govt would now commit to bailing every business out. This immediate politicisation of a natural event by the BBC only happens in Scotland.

Labour confirmed last year that buses in Wales would be brought under public control by 2030. There was no tabloid condemnation of the Labour FM. No claims Eluned Morgan was a dictator. The story was covered maturely and presented positively by the BBC. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cly2…

Tawdry little tricks like this have no place in public service broadcasting. Older people will now worry unnecessarily because the NHS has been linked to a flu vaccine shortage. Moreover, it's now more likely to *cause* a shortage as folk panic and rush to get a jag.
Disgusting from Laura Maciver and Martin Geissler this morning as both deliberately tried to link the Scottish NHS to a potential shortage of private flu jags despite both knowing fine well the NHS was not connected in any way and already had a full stock. This is just dishonest.

Our president is insane. I can’t believe we keep having to point that out when he makes it clear every single day. We are playing fast and loose with the blessings of liberty our nation affords us and endangering the world at large. Unforgivable.

🇬🇷|The Greek people are on the streets, and they are naming the enemy. They are not confused. They know who is selling their future: Marco Rubio, the Trump administration, and the Greek government of Kyriakos Mitsotakis. This is not a protest for wages alone. It is a revolt against a colonial arrangement. The U.S. Secretary of State arrives in Athens to finalize the sale of F-35 fighter jets and to deepen military cooperation. The Greek government has banned all public gatherings to shield him from the people. Riot police have deployed chemical agents to disperse demonstrators. The message from the ruling class is clear: the interests of Washington are more important than the rights of Greeks. The Crime Scene: Syntagma Square, Athens On Tuesday, October 6, 2026, thousands of Greeks gathered at Syntagma Square and marched toward the U.S. Embassy. Student associations, trade unions, and political parties carried Palestinian and Cuban flags. They chanted: "Murderer Rubio is not welcome," "Greece does not want to participate in massacres," "Out with the killers of peoples". The demonstrators were protesting the sixth round of the Greece-U.S. Strategic Dialogue, which Rubio came to formalize. The agenda included bilateral defense and security cooperation, the signing of a memorandum between the Greek Armed Forces and the Florida National Guard, and a ceremony marking the opening of a new wing at the U.S. Embassy. This is the institutionalization of occupation. 🔫 The Real Deal: F-35s and the Militarization of Greece Rubio's visit was accompanied by the finalization of the sale of 20 F-35 fighter jets to Greece, with pilot training scheduled to begin in 2027. Greece is also acquiring other advanced U.S. weapons systems. The message is simple: Washington is arming Greece for war. The Greek government is spending billions on U.S. weapons while teachers, nurses, and pensioners are told there is no money. The U.S.-NATO bases in Souda Bay, Larissa, Alexandroupoli, and Aktio are being upgraded and expanded. Greek territory is being turned into a launch pad for U.S. imperialist aggression in the Middle East and beyond. 💰 The Energy Heist: Chevron, ExxonMobil, and the Looting of Greek Resources While the streets burned, the real transfer of wealth was happening behind closed doors. In February 2026, a consortium led by Chevron was granted exclusive rights to explore and exploit hydrocarbons in maritime zones south of the Peloponnese and Crete. Two months later, ExxonMobil signed a similar deal for exploratory drilling in the northwestern Ionian Sea. This is not "energy security." This is the looting of Greek resources by American oil giants, brokered by the Mitsotakis government. The same government that claims it cannot afford to pay its teachers is handing over Greece's energy wealth to the same corporations that have destroyed the planet. 🛑 The State Terror: Chemical Agents and Bans The Greek police, under the command of the Mitsotakis government, did not simply stand by. They banned all public outdoor gatherings in central Athens from 6 a.m. Wednesday. They deployed drones and thousands of officers to monitor the protests. And when protesters marched toward the U.S. Embassy, riot police used chemical agents to stop them. The Mitsotakis government is not a government of the Greek people. It is a colonial administration that uses its police to protect the interests of Washington from the people of Greece. 🔗 The Wider Context: A People in Revolt This was not an isolated day of protest. For months, Greece has been paralyzed by strikes and demonstrations. Public-sector unions like ADEDY and GSEE, along with the Communist Party-linked PAME, have led general strikes against EU-imposed austerity. In September 2026, 35,000 workers rallied against new tax rises and spending cuts. Pensioners are planning further mobilizations. The anger is real. Wages are stagnant. The cost of living is soaring. And the government's response is to buy more weapons, sell more of the country to Chevron and ExxonMobil, and send more Greek soldiers to train with the Florida National Guard. #TheTruth: Colonized by Consent The Greek people know what is happening. The KKE has called for a "popular uprising" against the U.S.-NATO bases. The protesters in Syntagma Square are not fooled by the government's lies. They see Rubio for what he is: a representative of a genocidal empire that is waging war on Iran and Palestine, and they see their own government for what it is: a collaborator. This is the truth they do not want you to see. Marco Rubio came to Athens to collect the bounty. The F-35s, the Chevron contracts, the ExxonMobil deals, the Florida National Guard memorandum these are the instruments of Greece's vassalage. And the Greek people, on the streets with Palestinian flags in their hands, are the only ones telling the truth.

This should outrage every American. This is the president of the United States telling Iran to bomb American cities. I live in Los Angeles, but that’s beside the point. Tommorow it could be your city. My fellow Americans, this is not normal. This is not funny. This behavior should ring alarm bells for us all!
Trump: "With the war, it's just artificial. It's a little bit high. It's a small price to pay ... let them take out Los Angeles, let them take out San Diego. This is a very small price to pay."

Trump just told Ohio he may not help them if they vote Democrat. Read that slowly. The President of the United States is threatening voters with less federal help if they choose the wrong party. That’s not politics. That’s a fucking protection racket.

"I said to Trump, you know, 4 days before the war started, if you do this, you know, the United States will be kicked out of the Gulf. The American Empire will begin to collapse. Your legacy will be destroyed along with your party. I said this to Trump to his face in the Oval Office days before the war began, and he looked at me and said, 'Yes, you're right. But in the end, we all die anyway, so it doesn't matter.' That's exactly what he said. 'In the end, we all die anyway.'" Tucker Carlson, in an interview released yesterday with NPR

Andrew Neil on #bbcqt: "The big problem we face is 6.7 million adults of working age who aren't working and are living on out-of-work benefits. 6.7 million. No country can prosper with that number of people able to work who are not working." The first half is broadly right. DWP figures show 6.7 million people in Great Britain claimed some combination of out-of-work benefits in March 2026. However, the second half is misinformation because it misdescribes that statistic. DWP's out-of-work benefits category deliberately includes people the state has assessed as unable to work, or does not currently expect to work. DWP's own breakdown shows that 4.6 million of the 6.7 million, around 68%, have no work requirements at all. DWP explains that this is generally because they are too sick to work or are the main carer for a very young child. That group includes 2.8 million Universal Credit claimants on the health route and 390,000 on Employment and Support Allowance and older incapacity benefits. Only 2.2 million, about a third, are expected to take any steps towards work, and 590,000 of those are themselves on the health route. Treating the whole 6.7 million as available labour turns a count of claimants into a count of idle workers, which the data simply does not support. The official labour market figures tell a very different story. The ONS puts unemployment, meaning people actively looking for and available for work, at 1.78 million for May to July 2026. The Learning and Work Institute estimates that 3.9 million people are out of work but say they want a job, and that there are 5.5 of them for every vacancy. There is a serious debate to be had about rising sickness claims and appropriate support. It is not helped by presenting people the state itself has judged unable to work, or not required to, as if they were simply choosing not to. Nobody challenged Neil. Nobody corrected the misinformation. Neil got a round of applause. Someone could have told Fiona Bruce the facts in less than a minute. This is just one example which helps explain why many people understandably treat @bbcquestiontime as a joke. 🚨🇬🇧 BREAKING: Danny Tommo arrested after English Channel dinghy slasher stunt. Fifty people had already been lifted off the dinghy by the RNLI. What was left was an empty boat and a French rescue worker doing his job. Tommo live-streamed himself pulling a knife and slashing the dinghy screaming "this is England" at a man who was there to save lives, not take a country. Then he called him a traitor as he fled the scene. Meanwhile in Gosport, his followers turned out for a boat that was never coming, blocked ambulances, and three of them are now facing assault charges - one of them racially aggrav ated. This is the far-right in a nutshell: incompetent, ignorant, performative nonsense - a grown man knifing an empty boat and calling it a war, before pleading state persecution after the inevitable arrest. And as we know, an arrest is always followed by a GoFundMe. Prepare to dig deep, Patriots - it’s grifting season!

This is called "confabulation." It's a classic sign of dementia. Parts of his mind no longer work, so the brain fills it in with falsehoods and crazy fantasy. But the dementia patient actually believes it to be true. He's absolutely nuts. It's why there's a 25th Amendment.
Trump claims he was basically lifted out of the rubble on 9/11: "Two fireman, big strong guys, they grabbed me under the arms -- 'got to get our of here!' -- and they literally lifted me up, and they started running with me."
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Trump was miles from Ground Zero on 9/11, speaking by phone from his office. He visited the area days later. His story of being lifted from the rubble by firefighters first appeared in 2021 and lacks corroborating evidence. politifact.com/factchecks/202… usatoday.com/story/news/fac… newsweek.com/fact-check-did…
