Nobody likes you when you're depressed.
Plain and simple. We can talk all day about mental health and how important it is, but the moment you are depressed, people start to distance themselves. They see you as negative, a burden, and someone too heavy to handle.
I was taught poker and black jack since I was 6. We bet with pennies and candy. I thought it was a kids' game until I was probably 16. What? Yeah, my parents were alcoholics why do ask?
