One of the all time great posts. RIP
Bill Shatner is not a friend but his work on Boston Legal cannot be disputed. He brought a great deal to his performance.

After watching ALL OF A SUDDEN — a film that has so much to say about disability, capitalism, how austerity messes with care, specifically healthcare — and how we regarded a statement about disability a week ago, I’m not sure many are equipped to understand the sheer depth of it.

Carney ran on a platform of massive increases to home construction + social housing, which has now morphed into a massive transfer of public funds to private developers to get dogshit coffin sized condos off their books.
🚨 Mark Carney says Metro Vancouver has 2,500 completed condos sitting empty. Developers don't want to sell at a loss. So Ottawa and BC are stepping in with billions in infrastructure money, cutting development charges by up to 50%, and using financing tools to convert vacant condos into affordable housing. Later, when asked if governments could buy unsold units from developers, Carney replied: "You can do both." Taxpayers becoming the backstop for the condo market? šŸ¤”

Many of the ā€œAIā€ interventions mentioned here are the equivalent of paying for a gym that has machines that lift weights for you. I don’t mean it’s sort of like that, I mean, in educational contexts, it’s the exact same logic. It’s absurd in its face. I feel like I’m going insane
Jessica Winter has been raising her children to detest A.I. Then her daughter’s public middle school began receiving Google Chromebooks, which came pre-installed with an all-ages version of Gemini, a suite of A.I. tools. ā€œWhen my daughter, who is in sixth grade, begins writing an essay, she gets a prompt: ā€˜Help me write,’ ā€ Winter writes. ā€œIf she is starting work on a slide-show presentation, the prompt is ā€˜Help me visualize.’ She shoos away these interruptions, but they persist: ā€˜Help me edit.’ ā€˜Beautify this slide.’ ā€ Proponents of generative A.I. in elementary and middle schools argue that such early exposure will foster digital-media literacy, and prepare them for a future in which most professions are steeped in A.I. But the technology also poses significant cognitive and social-emotional risks to young people. Read Winter’s report about A.I.’s infiltration into schools—and what it could mean for young minds: newyorkermag.visitlink.me/NS…

Brace yourselves - you are about to witness the most insane slopulist policies over the next little while as Dear Premier tries to restore his polling lovefest. Think big. Speed limits abolished? Jack Astor’s vouchers? He will not tolerate being disliked like this

especially in a moment when Canada's government is all about slashing arts funding, it's a good thing to preach the great possibilities of public funding for movies and from a purely political perspective, even better when it's featured in starry-eyed American press

Why are Canadian media reporting on Canada Post as if they've all been given a script to follow? Journalists are interfering with the union's contract rat vote by parroting Canada Post management's talking points and telling Canadians that it isn't viable noraloreto.substack.com/p/di…

It's a sad comment on the state of the TTC that having no elevator service anywhere, and hence an inaccessible subway system, is an "inconvenience".
The Passenger Assistance Intercom in subway stations are not working. As a safety precaution, all elevators are out of service until this issue is resolved. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Comedians originated the gamer thing of demanding that what they do be considered important, vital, and serious art while also demanding you hold it to no standards whatsoever and don’t engage with the ideas it contains.
Dave Chappelle says he resents how "the Republican Party ran on transgender jokes. I felt like they were doing a weaponized version of what I was doing. That’s not what I was doing." "I was on Capitol Hill, and everybody ran up to take pictures with me from every congressional office. And I just take pictures with whoever asked... At first, it was CBC people. Then here comes Lauren Boebert and she said, ā€˜Can I get a picture?’ And I had already taken 40 pictures. I didn’t want to say no in front of everybody, but I didn’t know the phrase ā€˜I respectfully decline.’ So I just took the picture. And then she posted the picture and says something to the effect of, ā€˜Just two people that know that it’s just two genders.’ Just instantly, like, weaponized or politicized. So I got to the arena, and I lit her ass up for doing that. And she should never do that to a person like me.ā€ (via NPR's Newsmakers) variety.com/2026/tv/news/dav…
