Pat's whole relationship to criticism is actually fascinating. Like, all of these sports talkers get made fun of all the time, but only Pat went out and made "The Diary of a Polarizing Figure" about it. Why does it hit him so hard?
Every year NBA referees call playoff basketball quite enjoyably, allowing them to play with physicality, the way everyone wants, and then for some reason they reset at the beginning of the next season to "what if we called 51 fouls per game"
"Did he pick up the spare?" is such a good line from Ryan Ruocco, truly enjoy every game that guy calls
I was curious, so I emailed all 29 county clerks in Utah for their "I Voted" sticker designs for 2026... most counties don't have a special design, but some do, and I like them:

In 2026, the most popular party to register with in Utah? Unaffiliated.
Looking at data on how unaffiliated and Democratic voters have increased, while there's been a slight decrease in Republican registrations. With Addy Baird!

Met Aaron 13 years ago in the Jazz media room, have worked with him for the last 5 as my primary editor... He's extremely talented and those who work with him at The Athletic will really enjoy it. Congrats!
I’m joining @TheAthleticNBA as a managing editor.
I’m so excited to team up with @glennyoder, @tybatiste and a world-class lineup of sports journalists. We want fans to get the best reporting, analysis and storytelling in the game. I’m ready to get to work.

Ryan Smith is standing by Steve Ballmer, despite the latter being investigated by the DOJ
Jazz owner Ryan Smith to @FOS on the Ballmer/Clippers punishments:
"Steve is a standup individual first and foremost. This game is tricky, this game is hard, and obviously we have rules, and the NBA's gotta do it, and I'm glad he accepted it, and we all can just turn the page and move on. But it's not the first time this has happened in the league, but these rules have to mean anything. As owners, we're held to a pretty high standard comparatively... I think the NBA is way better with him."
My full extensive convo with Ryan for our Portfolio Players series comes out Tuesday.
