Oh you know, pretty normal. Probably the same as every other country.

Critical thinking should be the first thing taught to kids
This is utterly brilliant. A student accuses @jk_rowling of being transphobic. This teacher skilfully dissects the claim and challenges it by asking questions.
He teaches not what to think, but how to think critically.
Watch until the end.
You see the epiphany in real-time.

Antwoord Rensentheater:
Hallo Martin,
Zoals de bekende uitspraak van Ricky Gervais het treffend verwoordt: “Because you feel offended does not mean you are right.”
Jannet Westebring

Ray Kurzweil is one of the most prolific futurists, touted for the very high accuracy of his predictions across many domains, spanning decades. His core thesis has been to assume compounding exponential growth and map what would emerge from it.
As someone who would love to live long enough to see humanity explore the cosmos, I hope his predictions continue to be accurate. However, his track record to date has been more of a mixed picture.
First, predictions are inherently ambiguous, and his success rate varies widely depending on how charitably they're graded. His accuracy is inconsistent across domains, and exponential growth in compute hasn't always translated into exponential progress elsewhere. His predictions also become less reliable further into the future, just as the consequences of being wrong grow.
Nevertheless, there's been a lot of excitement recently regarding his predictions, due to the incredible pace of AI.
Unfortunately, it's hard to find a curated list of his predictions and performance, so I put one together

More money, more time and flying less will not make spaceflight safer or make us more effective at achieving our objectives.
We are done defending the status quo. We are not going to compromise NASA’s effectiveness or capability trying to appease every constituency and, in the process, satisfy no one.
We are here for the mission, focused on executing @POTUS’ national space policy, achieving the objectives entrusted to us and delivering the kind of world-changing headlines worthy of America’s space program.

Google is down bad for no apparent reason
So today I have been loading up on $GOOG stock (well $GOOGL but they're mostly the same) for in my eyes very cheap
I just Facetime'd with my dad and we talked about ChatGPT and he answered "yes I cancelled my ChatGPT because it's on Google now"
I asked what the jackfriks he meant
He said "so Google Search has AI now and I trust it more because it links back to sources etc"
My survival thesis is we have to be co-owner of BigTech and BigAI while they become to sole owners of exponential intelligence which will replace a lot of our businesses and which they will then sell back to us
I'm doing what I'm saying
So I bought over $1M in Google today
Kinda crazy but also not so crazy
I've been the biggest Google hater for years, it was completely mismanaged, destroyed by politics and lack of any leadership, fumbled inventing Transformers etc.
Then Sergey returned and suddenly Google is dominating not just in the AI benchmarks and leaderboards but in real usage
AI benchmarks can and are easily rigged
But me running an AI startup and always wanting to use the best models makes me conclude something basic now: it's really just Google and Elon Musk and the Chinese in the end who will probably win
The models I use are all by either Google, xAI, or the Chinese (ByteDance, Kling, Minimax)
As you know Google now has its own chips (TPUs), Google has the biggest data set in video (YouTube), images (Google images) and generally the web (for LLMs), still the one of the biggest general user bases (Google Search etc), and they finally have a real engineer being the de facto CEO now (Sergey Brin)
Elon Musk with xAI you can't bet against cause he simply has the sheer willpower to get things done
The Chinese are similar, sheer willpower and they don't sleep and they really want to win, and companies like ByteDance (TikTok) have massive data sets in video too of course
In my opinion everyone is still staring too much at LLMs, I've always been more interested in image models, video models and now the nascent 3d and world models, that's where it's going and where we'll be able to prompt entire worlds or apps or whatever, it's hard to imagine WHAT exactly
With my app Photo AI I try be a little part of that journey there of course
Now I can't invest in xAI, I'm a bit invested in the Chinese via the ICHN ETF, but of course Google anyone can invest in and so I think I should
I've reduced my Nvidia investments already months ago, as it was inevitable there'd be real competitors to their chips at some point, with Google's TPUs there are now
I'm not an expert, and you should mostly just buy ETFs, and you shouldn't listen to me and this is not financial advice
