It’s like the screen time guidance for EYFS - when many phonics and maths schemes that the DFE have actively promoted are screen based and one of the three statutory assessments in EYFS is screen based. Make it make sense !!!

Non-discussion of detailed future of Canary Wharf College secondary, within controversial East London housing development, raise questions about role of interim chief executive ahead of a merger with another trust, which she also leads.

God help us all when EHCPs and legal rights are removed. Young person physically shaking and retching after complete safeguarding failure. Left completely unprotected without EHCP support.

CAMHS needs to be urgently reformed. Had a fight for years with not getting right support for my daughter’s mental health and autism. Postcode lottery for PDA and psychiatrist not willing to prescribe correct medication, to a point she’ll end up in care whilst destroying family

Love this. Succinctly describes my approach to SEND advocacy and why I care so much about helping families fight for their SEND kids' legal rights, in the face of so much institutional bullying & mistreatment.
“I bully, bullies.” This is what real masculinity looks like. #Presidential

How is this ok...... this fucking country is detestable. Austerity meant cutting fatally necessary services. Over a million dead whilst @Conservatives sit in opposition, when they should be sitting in the DOCK!!
Trigger warning: suicide Thirteen year old Eivie White took her own life after eight years of refusals by her local authority to support her autism. Six months later, Eivie’s best friend took her own life, aged 13. Eivie is one of 200 cases related to avoidable child suicide and 1,200 child testimonies of SEND misconduct by 134 local authorities which I gave the government in February. They have not acted. The Police are now involved. I asked at Prime Minister’s Questions that as local authority misconduct is leading to children’s deaths, whether the government still plans to reduce children’s legal protections - especially on tribunals - in the SEND reforms.

It's very true - but systemic shortfall is entirely separate from the current "behaviour" fetishisation & "crisis" narrative being peddled by some, especially when unjustly weighted against SEND children for manifestation of disability.

Bristol City Council and their ever incompetent education department can't even manage a serious data breach properly. Hopefully lots of affected families raise ICO complaints and force an investigation - ideally resulting in a fine.
No contact for advice issued to concerned parents here. Just "we don't know". This is not good enough from Verma. He needs to get his arse down from North London and set up an advice service for parents: share.google/raM2Qy3Rsz6Jcwr…

@educationgovuk @LucyMPowell surely this is out of order. Why English schools are becoming reformatories?

Hi Sam, behaviour is certainly a factor in teacher attrition, but it’s not at the top of the list in related research. Suspension and PEX should be used judiciously, as a last resort, and always in accordance with government policy. This is not always the case.

And this is exactly why we need families & communities involved more in education. I fail to see what the *hysteria* is right now about reviewing suspensions & PEX. Nothing to hide? Then take a dang chill pill 💊 And if you’ve got something to hide, there are consequences 😉

Andrew, you make it sound as though children arrive at school neatly labelled “poorly behaved” or “struggling”, with absolutely no overlap. 😂 Unfortunately, real children are a bit more complicated than your hypothetical categories. 🤷‍♀️

The notes state: “Pupils with SEND support…are significantly over-represented in the reflection room and in suspension data…too many [such] pupils are spending 40-100 hours in the reflection room in the last two terms…
