If you are looking for a Raycast-compatible launcher I recommend checking Vicinae, I have been developing it for years and it's also available on Linux, Windows and macOS! vicinae.com
I used Reverse Engineer Anything to re-create raycast on @omarchy. And I was blown away! In just a couple hours I have a fully-functioning raycast-like launcher! Right now it: * Learns your habits * Apps + every Omarchy action in one search * Aliases & favorites * Keyboard-first * Follows your Omarchy theme live, opens in ~40ms repo: github.com/typecraft-dev/oma…

After TEN LONG YEARS, Order of the Sinking Star is out Now! On Switch 2, PS5, and ... it's at the top of Popular New Releases on Steam, already! Thank you everyone for your support during this long, long, long, long, long development!

I'm working on implementing a similar dictation feature myself, with an emphasis on local models (whisper/parakeet). Very good dictation is hard, and most of the time what makes the difference is a good post processing step, generally using a LLM. This is the only reliable way to remove fillers, cut repetitions, oral idiosyncrasies... I think whisper flow is using a fine tuned version of some llama model. Of course, doing that part locally is more of a challenge because you don't want to have to wait 10 seconds to get the result of your dictation. It is a very interesting challenge.
is @raycast dictation any good? 🤔 thinking if i should switch from wispr flow ($15/mo) to raycast ($10/mo)

Vicinae is built in C++ btw, a very unsafe language according to X. Yet I can't remember the last time it segfaulted. Makes you think! (Yes I will keep defending this language)
I used raycast for almost a decade. I even paid them at some point for their LLM chat. After the latest upgrade tho even app launcher stopped working normally and started throwing memory management segfaults (HOW TF IF THIS IS SWIFT AND RUST APP) I finally migrated to Vicinae it is better in almost every single aspect, has almost all the free features and uses less resources. I don't know why someone will keep paying for this.

This makes me kinda sad. Everything is categorized as slop now 😓
UI that looks like this is such a turn-off for me. There's a boundary between AI-assisted coding and AI slop, and this is a sign of the latter.

That's a start! I'm going to make sure I do everything in my power to push this further
The global shortcuts protocol on upstream wayland is now merged as experimental. XFCE will most likely implement it for wayland. Congratulations @aurelienb42 🫡

Going to add the onboarding screen to Linux as well. For Hyprland users it means there is no manual config of any kind to do, since Hyprland supports global shortcuts!
