the lesson is so much bitterer than you can possibly imagine
We asked GPT-6 Astra to edit Qwen3.5-0.8B weights to improve math. It directly changed only 0.016% of weights, fixing 0.8B's reasoning loops & improving math up to 6x and even instruction following 3x, without gradients or training. We call this Weight-Space Programming: frontier LLMs can now natively read/write neural network weights! 🧵 Blog: rikiyat.github.io/blog/weigh…
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
LLM was given weights explicitly as text in prompt and used code/forward passes (per authors' logs) to ablate Qwen looping direction, a known thinking-mode issue per model card. Primarily fixed repetition in that mode, not general 'natively' improving weights/math. rikiyat.github.io/blog/weight-sp… github.com/RikiyaT/lm_und… huggingface.co/Qwen/Qwen3.5-0… huggingface.co/RikiyaT/Qwen3.…

Good software becomes even more valuable, but "good software" now explicitly means "software maintained by people with taste and motives I trust"
At this point the reaction is: Bad software: I'll just build my own. Good software: I'd rather use this and let it get even better than build my own.

nostalgia is like alcohol. in small dosages if makes you feel alive. in large dosages, you are riding an e-scooter back to your flat while eating a shawarma then the shawarma is lost to the wind and you're bouncing on the cement like a deflated basketball

Miyamoto believes AI will not make human creativity obsolete: “Looking back at past designs, there are some that were created merely by copying and pasting. Yet, such work rarely stands the test of time; it lacks the individual’s particular design intention. Because the process relies on an individual’s intent, with the computer serving as an assistant for the labor, I believe that even as technology continues to evolve, and even if AI were to eventually handle everything, there will always be a role left for us to play.” (Translated by VGC) videogameschronicle.com/news…

Three times a year, indie game developers and fans eagerly await Steam Next Fest. It's a week-long festival of game demos. It's often where first-time game developers are discovered. Some major hits (eg, Balatro) came out of viral Next Fest launches. This week's Next Fest is the biggest yet, with 7,236 demos. I built a little project to browse them. Check it out!

People forget how bad asset flips were on Steam. The Unity splash screen hurt a game more than an AI disclosure does today. Players saw it and quit on the spot. One dev shipped 173 games, they were so bad Valve called it "fake games".
You can tell these people are PC gaming tourists when they pretend this wasn't a issue during Steam's asset flip saga.

Amir Timur found ordinary chess too easy, so he invented his own variant, “Great Chess” (شطرنج الكبير). It was played on a massive 10×11 board with 28 pieces per side, including camels, giraffes, elephants, and war engines, each with unique moves.
