My story on @KQEDnews this am didn’t do justice to just how Dirty firefighting is. This firefighter had flecks of mud on his face & sunglasses, & mud up to his wrists. They have to feel the dirt to make sure it’s cool to the touch, so no embers can reignite the duff. #CaldorFire – at South Lake Tahoe, CA

9/2 morning: Base camp to fight #CaldorFire at #Heavenly is huge; set up for thousands of fire fighters, including hot food and lodging, equipment, logistics center. Camp expected to operate for weeks. Firefighters have so far kept the fire away from homes in South Lake Tahoe.
...remember there are vast resources and massive fuel breaks and dozer lines just to the SE of Heavenly between this cam and the fire. Crews are hopeful they can continue guiding the fire S of the resort towards the east. Will monitor.
