Where there's smoke, there's fire. Darius Acuff has been heavily linked to the Kings since the draft lottery. Today, we'll examine some of his strengths and weaknesses and how his game might translate to the NBA. Thread below⬇️

Agree Kenny. Only thing I’m worried about is with this level of usage and high minutes, he will likely hit a wall physically before the all star break.

I don’t want to hear Cam Thomas in the same sentence as Acuff ever again. Cam Thomas has never made a read like this out of a PnR in his career. It took the guy 186 games to have a 10 assist game. Acuff just had 14 in game 5.

As far as your spacing critique at about 1:10, I just disagree. Attacking the side with 2 creates that single side tag from Lavines side (best shooter on the court) which led to the open dunk.

He’s not a two way player. He’s an awful offensive player and plays hard, but isn’t a perfect defender either.

Who is saying he’s at the level of the GOAT processors? He’s a 23 yr old 7’4 he’s obviously going to be prone to mistakes

Pistons' negotiations with Jalen Duren are at a standstill right now, per @ramonashelburne. "Could take deep into August. Could take quite a while."

Don’t think Acuff has been as bad as advertised defensively but man I have no idea what’s going through his head here. Turns his back and loses focus as soon as there’s a drive away from the ball.

Not afraid to shoot, not afraid to miss either. Great traits

Sharp knows how to move his feet and use his body to play bigger than his height
They’re gonna love him in Sacramento

I remember the Marvin Bagley poster in his SL debut. Nothing phases me
HALFTIME: Kings tie at the break, 37-37. 👑 Emanuel Sharp: 11 PTS, 2 REB 👑 Darius Acuff Jr.: 8 PTS, 2 REB 👑 Jamarion Sharp: 5 PTS California Classic presented by @Ticketmaster

That'll probably do it for Raynaud's night. Co-leading France in scoring with 10 points (4/5 FG, 0/1 3P, 2/2 FT) 4 boards and an assist in 16 minutes off the bench. Nice debut outing for Maxime!

I was skeptical of the Kings’ draft at first, but the more I look at it, the more I love the direction they’re taking. Surrounding Acuff Jr. with proven, competitive players who will push him, help him grow, and keep him accountable is exactly what you want. That’s what Emmanuel Sharp brings. Sharp was a winner at Houston. Everyone knows about the shooting, but it’s everything else that stands out to me. He’s another one of Kelvin Sampson’s pitbull guards—relentless defensively, ultra-competitive, and incredibly smart. He reads offenses at a high level, navigates screens, times his digs perfectly, jumps passing lanes, rotates instinctively, and knows when to pressure the ball handler or cut off the roller in the P&R. He just gets it. Guys like this carve out long NBA careers because they impact winning. The fact Sacramento already signed him to a three-year, $6.35 million deal tells you everything you need to know about how highly they think of him.

Daeqwon Plowden was dialed in during the final 15 games of the season: 14.3 PTS 2.9 REB 1.0 STL 46% FG 37% 3PT (7.6 attempts/G) 30.3 MIN Solid depth move for the Kings.
Sources: The Sacramento Kings are signing Daeqwon Plowden to a 2-year, $5.1 million deal. After two-way deals with the Warriors, Hawks, and Kings, Plowden gets a standard NBA deal after averaging 10.8 points last season. Agent Drew Kelso of @OneMotiveSports will finalize the deal

Yep. Even in the G-League, shot less than 1 three per game and turned it over 2.3 times. Not pretty, but 72% from the line was encouraging.

He's not there yet, but that's the kind of archetype he should be striving to fill. I'm skeptical of him ever becoming a Draymond-level offensive player, but he could maybe have that kind of defensive impact.
