I have just sent the Chancellor @Jeremy_Hunt - supported by major charities - a letter asking him to postpone the government's 20% increase in energy bills on 1 April.
The letter is at attached (plus supplementary explanation) please read and feel free to share
ALT The Rt Hon Jeremy Hunt MP Chancellor of the Exchequer HM Treasury 1 Horse Guards Road London SW1A 2HQ CC: The Rt Hon Grant Shapps MP Thursday 9 February 2023 Dear Chancellor, In your November Autumn Statement, you announced a 20% increase of the energy price guarantee (EPG) – the state-subsidised energy rate – from April. This will increase energy bills yet again for almost every home across England, Scotland and Wales. This comes at the same time that the £400 energy bills support scheme comes to an end. Yet things have changed since then, and I would ask you to urgently consider postponing that increase. This cannot wait until the Budget – in practice, energy firms will need to know much sooner if the planned rise isn’t happening on 1 April, or they are bound to have to communicate to customers that it is coming. This decision to increase prices was made at a time when wholesale rates were looking to be far higher than they are now. In fact, on current
Wow. Selling my house as can't afford the new mortgage with @TheWestBrom ask them for help to reduce payments whilst selling. Only option is to reduce payments, creates arrears which then affects credit rating. What a great help. Single parent, low income, thanks. @MartinSLewis

Squirming Prime Minister tries to justify not giving nurses a pay rise saying Government has “reinstituted nurses bursaries.” Complete boll****. Government scrapped bursary which previously reimbursed their tuition fees so nurses now qualify tens of thousands of pounds in debt!
Hi @OVOEnergy I was confirmed as eligible for the warm homes discount in November, how can I find out when it will be applied to my account? Thanks.

Let me break down for you the current rail dispute between the @RMTUnion and Network Rail and the 14 other train operating companies.
The following tweets will contain information that the media and the politicians are conveniently not telling you.
Have a read. A THREAD! 🧵
Am I missing something @OVOEnergy ? My shift and save target for 2 hours is 0.9kw ( I'm not sure that even one light bulb on?!) but I get credited £1 for every kW I shift below this target? Am I being really dim or is that simply impossible, so what's the point??

This Government clapped for nurses, called them heroes, and now, after all they sacrificed to keep us safe during the pandemic offers them a crappy real terms pay cut and says they can leave “if they want to”
Utterly shameless, utterly detestable nursingnotes.co.uk/news/nurs…

It is very worrying Steve that your @Conservatives Government told @TwitterSupport to suspend @TimExcluded account. All he's done is highlight the suicides cover up by @BorisJohnson @RishiSunak @Jesse_Norman @10DowningStreet.
Where has freedom of speech gone!

I've been asked to reshare this. It doesn't say anything many do not already know about .@RishiSunak.
His egotistical photo ops & his pathetic social media self-advertising (that no other Chancellor has felt the need to do), really does highlight his fragility.

I had to leave my job and retrain because the childcare system in this country doesn’t support working parents. I now earn 5 times less and have to claim UC. Your plan cr@p @RishiSunak my dear MP.

Working TOGETHER we have sent a powerful message to UK News shows if they won’t hold this Prime Minister to account for his rampant lying in Parliament we will do it ourselves!
How long can you ignore it @BBCNews?
Yawn.
@RishiSunak I’m one of your constituents and you don’t even give a monkeys about replying to anything anymore. I’m bored of you now. You need to do one and stop fannying about popping to local shops pretending you care. #ExcludedUnity

Hey @BorisJohnson - if you can stand up and have a drink with your ‘mates’ while you watch the football, why can’t couples celebrate with a glass in hand with friends and family on their wedding day?
Or don’t the rules apply to you?
