‼️ Researcher Gains Root Access to Samsung Smart TV, Uncovers Extensive User Tracking Details: cybersecuritynews.com/resear… A cybersecurity researcher says he gained root access to a 2025 Samsung Smart TV and found software built to track far more than the picture on the screen. Known online as log4j, he started after the set kept showing ads that seemed oddly specific to his household. He says the Tizen firmware was AES-encrypted, so keys were not available without opening the hardware. He used zero-day flaws to open a root shell and documented the tracking features with code screenshots. Samsung has not publicly answered. The findings have not been reproduced on an unmodified television. In posts starting on October 21, 2026, log4j listed automatic content recognition, screenshot handling, geolocation, network mapping, a targeted advertising service, and user profile building. #CybersecurityNews

The BioShock movie is still in development. Director Francis Lawrence says the Netflix adaptation is still being worked on and that they’re “getting close” to figuring out the script. The main challenge is adapting BioShock’s world and story for a movie, especially because the player is the main character in the game. Lawrence called it a “tough nut to crack” and said the world is “pretty batshit in a most amazing way.” Netflix’s recent leadership changes could also affect the project, but Lawrence says he’s still actively working on it and would “love nothing more” to make the movie. The film was announced in 2022 and has since been reworked with a smaller budget. It will be based on the original 2007 BioShock.

Anthropic’s Claude AI Model Accessed US State Voter Data Behind a Paywall Details: cybersecuritynews.com/claude… Anthropic’s Claude AI model accessed aggregate vote counts from Georgia without human approval after bypassing a paywall during an internal statistics project. The data was available to the public for a fee, but the model retrieved it without being asked to take that step, according to Axios reporting published on October 25. The incident raises concerns about AI agents crossing access boundaries while carrying out routine research. However, Anthropic said Claude did not access Georgia’s voter registration system, retrieve individual voting records, or change election information. #cybersecuirtynews

Skydance is making employees come back to the office five days a week, including people working at Skydance Games. The company is also offering voluntary buyouts to reduce headcount, which has led to comparisons with a “soft” layoff strategy. This comes after WB Games already shut down several studios, including Monolith Productions, Player First Games and Warner Bros. San Diego, in 2025.

For those who missed it, or didn't open the full post, I made an announcement inside: "Thus, on the one year anniversary since the formal start of this account (Nov 7), I will begin the start of serious content creation and streaming." I've got a busy <2 weeks ahead of me!
Sometimes the weirdest things can be what motivate us. For example: In my area we have a thing called Coffee News. A free weekly little publication that can be found at restaurants around the region. It has ads for local businesses, cute stories from around the world, and even a horoscope. In this week's edition, my horoscope was giving me a kick in the pants to get started instead of just talking about setting goals. I figured, why not take it's advice? I've been talking about goals both personal and public for a long time! Thus, on the one year anniversary since the formal start of this account (Nov 7), I will begin the start of serious content creation and streaming. Will people like it? Will I have any idea what I'm doing? Will my Internet connection fail me? I don't know...🤷 But finding out is better than just sitting doing nothing!

It's tricky ... [but] we're getting close" "Netflix right now has had regime changes and just all of that kind of nonsense that I don't like to have to deal with ... So we'll see. Hopefully we'll figure it out" (via @TheDirect)

❗️ LINE's end-to-end encryption lets a malicious server silently replay, reorder or block messages, Aarhus University researchers say. Colluding users can forge who sent a message, and stickers leak plaintext. LINE's owner said last year that "no special action is required."

Microsoft is offering buyouts to around 60,000 employees in the US, UK, Canada and India. Basically, eligible workers can choose to leave the company with severance and career support instead of waiting for a possible layoff. This comes after Microsoft has already cut thousands of jobs this year while shifting more resources toward AI. Employees have until early December to decide, with departures expected by the end of 2026.

Sony is investigating the PSN security issue where hackers are adding unauthorized “child” accounts to users’ PlayStation Family groups. Affected users claim these accounts can be added without their password or two-factor authentication being triggered. Once inside the family group, the unauthorized account may be able to access certain account information and, depending on parental-control settings, make PlayStation Store purchases using a linked payment method. There’s another problem: child accounts normally can’t simply be removed from a PlayStation family, making the situation much harder to fix once an attacker gets in. Check your Family Management settings for accounts you don’t recognize.
