CVS is trying to appease state and federal policymakers by spinning off its least profitable business lines, including its retail pharmacies, while preserving its lucrative vertically integrated model. It's keeping insurer Aetna, PBM Caremark, its specialty pharmacy, and more.

That’s pretty funny. He is a genius financial engineer. The split is great for shareholders. Changes nothing for patients or anyone who pays for insurance or care.
He is posturing to be able to say “See, we broke up our company. “. Don’t fall for it @HawleyMO @SenWarren
We need to pass the bill now more than ever
CVS CEO David Joyner just said on CNBC that the Break Up Big Medicine legislation by @SenWarren and Josh Hawley (@HawleyMO) is one reason he is breaking up his company.

I always advised players to avoid fist fights. However, when a scuffle was eminent, remember that “Most fights are won or lost because one participant was unaware of the starting time!”

From the outside, our business is thriving.
More patients. More prescriptions. More people trusting their local pharmacy with their care.
And yet this pharmacy owner describes sitting alone after closing, looking at the bank account and wondering whether there would be enough money to pay the upcoming drug bill.
That moment says so much about what independent pharmacies are facing.
A pharmacy can be busy and growing while still struggling financially.
When reimbursement does not adequately cover what it costs to purchase and safely dispense medications, filling more prescriptions does not always solve the problem.
Sometimes it adds to it.
Behind every local pharmacy are real people trying to keep the doors open for their patients, employees, and community.
And when those doors close, patients lose more than another place to pick up a prescription. They can lose a trusted healthcare relationship and convenient access to care.
No pharmacy owner serving a growing number of patients should have to wonder whether success will still end in closure.
This is why fair reimbursement matters.
What do you think? 👇
How would your community be affected if its independent pharmacies disappeared?

Nope, neither does paying the pharmacy less than the $500 it costs them to buy it plus billing the plan sponsor/employer $800 for said prescription then extorting the drug manufacturer $300 for a “rebate”. I just can’t figure out how the Pbms are taking in billions 🙄
