Amaarae was independent when TAYDK came out and SGLM for that matter. Tell me you don't know anything about Amaarae without telling me. Amaarae is still independent and has a distribution deal. All the other work Amaarae did herself. She had international attention BEFORE she signed her distribution deal with Interscope. Which is part of the point you're missing.
I'm not gonna hold you, but Amaarae reached cause of international numbers. Ya'll didn't fuck with her before because she was Queer and according to a lot of ya'll you can't be Ghanaian and Queer. Let's not rewrite history.
I'm legit exhausted at having this conversation, but since you want to keep having it. The whole label conversation orbits around exploitation. When a label is involved the artist does not make nearly as much as the label does off their backs. There are artists who are examples of what can happen if you keep good, business minded people around you. That avenue allows you to pocket more profit instead of recouping fractions of a penny.
