Oh, I don't know, maybe he did it because you're running on a platform of "let's take all of Elon Musk's stuff and throw him in the gulag"?
Elon Musk is dumping half a billion dollars into Republican races. Why? Because Democrats in Congress won’t be a rubber stamp for Donald Trump and will actually fight to lower costs.

You cannot parody the thought process of libs in Portland (or Minneapolis, or Seattle, or New York, or San Francisco, or...). It is simply not possible. This is exactly what they believe. They genuinely do think the solution to everything is to "lib harder"
I have a feeling libs in Portland are going to turn it around any minute now, keep trying libs, Utopia is just around the corner, lib harder, you’ve almost got it.

That the rules governing play in a MLB game cover 103 pages, but nowhere in there is a "swing" objectively defined, therefore the umpires call swing/no swing based on vibes alone, is one of those things that sounds too absurd to possibly be true, but apparently it is.

And this is why the “woke right” exists. When supposedly centrist leaders like Macron can’t provide the rock-bottom core purpose of a government, which is a monopoly on violence, people shop around. Centrists really have no room to complain here. Until you’re all Bukele with Hillary characteristics, you have no claim to the high ground. I have plenty of mutuals who fall into this camp, but my patience is really running out. The state must lock up criminals, secure private property, and deliver necessary public goods without 90% loss to bureaucratic graft (permitting, environmental review, “affordable housing,” etc). If you have no candidates who can do this, you are not the adults in the room. You’re children in oversized suits. You are the ones who don’t recognize the seriousness of the moment and are larping. Where are these Democrats who reject rent control, reject redistribution, want to cut social programs, want to cut red tape, want to execute murderers? You have none. So it’s a choice between right illiberalism and left illiberalism, and that’s an extremely easy choice for a White male net taxpayer.
Paris's top cop advised shop-owners to provide for their own security during this weekend's riots. The rock-bottom, core purpose of government is to protect its citizens. A government that admits it can't do that is a government in defeat. zerohedge.com/geopolitical/p…

Giving WWII troops free copies of The Great Gatsby was a genius tactical move. Sgt: Men, I just received orders to charge that machine gun nest. Many of us won't make it. But at least we'll have something to do other than reading that awful book Troops: OORAH SARGE LETS GO!

Fascism, in its most extreme form: The government controls everything and the undesirables are sent to a death camp Socialism, in its most extreme form: The government controls everything and the undesirables are sent to a death camp The fact that these philosophies have the exact same endpoint, and therefore cannot be the "opposite" of each other, and in fact have far more in common that not, is something they really don't like you noticing.
Promoting one of the most retarded rightwing memes only happens if you're engaging in inexcusable bad faith or have had your brain baked by hyperpartisan politics or lack a commitment to truth-seeking. Here's what Hitler did once he was in power: He busted up unions, privatized or divested from certain industries (e.g., big commercial banks, utilities, heavy manufacturing, mining, shipbuilding, some public works, steel, mass transport, railway subsidiary companies, ship lines, a lot of state-owned property), didn't remove private property protections, dismantled social welfare programs, outlawed all (actual) socialist parties and organizations, and rounded up and executed people on the left (before he did the same to Jews). Hitler's involvement in the economy was consistent with the principles of fascism: The means of production were not seized, but the party maintained a more direct role in some regulatory aspects. Hitler argued that both social-economic hierarchies and inequalities were good for the country. How socialist of him! Combining the terms “national” and “socialism” was briefly popular across Europe in the 20s, but these movements tended to be interested in creating “social solidarity” based not on class, but on race or ethnicity or nationality. “Socialism” in this context bears no relationship to the term in its present one. I'll add: “But the German Nazis had 'socialist' in their name” is the same level of genius argument as “North Korea and East Germany were democracies because they had 'democrat' in their names.”

AirBnB, Uber/Lyft, Doordash, all of these gig economy/"sharing" apps were fine when they were part time side hustles for normal people. As soon as the usual suspects realized you could grind out a meager living via this stuff the race to the bottom commenced and here we are.
Hotels have amenities. And some slezebag isn't charging you $40 to turn on the hot tub. AirBnB hosts started off great, but became total slum lords.

Schools should do promotion/relegation like Euro soccer leagues. After every term, top 10% of students move up, bottom 10% down. Top tier looks like a college campus, kids have plenty of autonomy, etc. Bottom tier is basically prison. 3-4 levels in between. Would fix a lot.
School logic: Every child has a right to an education. The disruptive child is preventing twenty-nine others from receiving one. We must avoid fixing this situation at all costs because every child has a right to an education. Make it make sense.

My version of failing the breakfast test is that I simply cannot imagine replying to a post on here then immediately blocking the poster. Bitchmade level over 9000.

I've never, not once, blocked anyone on here due to a difference of opinion, no matter how retarded they may be. I'll block obvious bots, AI slop accounts, etc., but never some random libtard. I want to know what my enemy is thinking. I want to spar with those who disagree. That's like the entire reason for this place, is it not?

Fun little 9 hole par 31 executive course I play a few times a week is currently installing cart paths on every hole for no apparent reason. Just dawned on me that after rain they typically have a day or two of no carts (aka paradise), and now those days will be cart path only

I WISH this shit was banned. Fucking flaming garbage heap of a novel. Forcing teenagers to read this should be considered a war crime.

This one SHOULD be "banned" in the sense that it belongs nowhere near a school library. It has graphic descriptions of sex and cannibalism. If you think this needs to be deliberately put in front of children... holy fuck what's wrong with you?

Congratulations, you played yourself

This is your brain on academic Economics. In the real world, passing a "one-time" expropriation *is a signal that you have the motive, will, opportunity, and ability* to do it again.

The key problem is this: Why would billionaires permanently leave California in response to a one-time tax owed if they lived there on January 1, 2026? It would only make sense for them to leave if the tax becomes annual. But if the tax becomes annual, it would also generate revenue annually — by virtue of, well, being annual.
