Our office and 21 other states submitted a formal comment letter supporting the Census Bureau’s proposed reforms to exclude illegal aliens and temporary foreign visitors from the congressional apportionment count.
For too long, states that encourage illegal immigration have gained extra seats in Congress at the expense of law-abiding states like Indiana. Hoosiers deserve representation based on citizens and lawful permanent residents.
This effort advances the same principles driving our office’s work to enforce Indiana’s anti-sanctuary laws, hold local officials accountable for obstructing immigration enforcement, and protect the integrity of our elections.

The Second Lady and I had the privilege of welcoming 4th graders from Heritage Christian School (Susan's alma mater) to the Statehouse today.

Indiana law is clear: Local police chiefs and sheriffs can enter into 287(g) agreements with ICE.
Our office confirmed that the Stinesville Police Department’s agreement is fully lawful. Town Board approval isn’t required for a local police department to enter into a 287(g) agreement, and any attempt to restrict or withhold funding to block cooperation with federal immigration authorities is illegal.
These agreements give local law enforcement tools to better police their communities and opens up many opportunities to obtain federal funding. We’ve already signed our own 287(g) agreement, and we strongly encourage every Indiana sheriff and police department to do the same — doing so helps protect Hoosiers and make our communities safer.

Today, our office and 15 other states filed an amicus brief in support of parents raising religious objections to their child’s vaccination.
Parents have the fundamental right to raise their children according to their faith, especially in their own home, and the government should respect that.
Our office has consistently fought vaccine mandates that try to trample individual freedom and parental authority—from challenging the Biden administration’s unlawful federal COVID requirements for workers, contractors, and schools, to defending Hoosiers against institutional overreach.
We will keep defending citizens’ constitutional rights.

Through a single D.C. judge’s ruling, all taxpayers — including Hoosiers — are on the hook for sex-change surgeries and cross-sex hormones for federal inmates with the mental disorder known as gender dysphoria. That is both ridiculous and unlawful.
No federal law requires hardworking taxpayers to fund procedures that have no proven benefit, come with horrific risks, and make it harder for prison officials to keep order.
Our office is co-leading an amicus brief with Idaho Attorney General @Raul_Labrador calling on the U.S. Supreme Court to put a stop to it.

After my team and I intervened on behalf of the state’s interests, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has determined the Indianapolis Airport Authority is not authorized to close the Indianapolis Downtown Heliport, keeping it open as an aviation facility and preserving a significant state asset.
This is a win for Indiana’s taxpayers, public safety, the future of advanced air mobility, and aviation generally. The downtown heliport is a unique asset that in addition to serving passengers and general aviation, also serves law enforcement, homeland security, military support, and emergency medical services.
