Cancer patients with the same diagnosis often have very different tumor biology. Molecular testing can reveal underlying differences, but that's slow and expensive. Introducing Holon-S1, our platform to predict genes and biomarkers from routine pathology slides. • beats two other models at predicting spatial gene activity in a controlled comparison • has identified potentially novel biomarkers in breast cancer and colon cancer • evaluated across 16 organ types and more than 15 scanners, using slides from both formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded and fresh-frozen tissue. We believe Holon-S1 has the potential to help researchers find new biomarkers in slides they already have, discover treatment targets, and bring more personalized cancer care within reach!

I interviewed @geochurch and learnt we're already gene editing humans. You just haven't noticed. 0:00 - Gene Editing Mammals → Humans 8:36 - Germline vs Somatic 14:56 - Modified Humans Are Already Here 18:50 - Enhancing Healthy Humans 25:00 - Aging Therapies vs Cognitive Enhancement 30:20 - Embryo Selection 38:10 - Is US Losing To UAE? 42:33 - Biotech Failures 49:31 - Next Dire Wolf Moment 54:21 - AI x Science 1:02:07 - Synthetizing Entire Genomes

MLSB @workshopmlsb will be a co-located event with NeurIPS this year! Despite the workshop proposal being rejected, the community loves MLSB so much - we’re excited to keep this going with all your support! (Pls help spread the word that MLSB is still happening)
The MLSB workshop will be in San Diego, CA (co-located with NeurIPS) this year for its 6th edition in December 🧬🔬 Stay tuned @workshopmlsb as we share details about the stellar lineup of speakers, the official call for papers, and other announcements!🌟

🚀 GenMol is now open‑sourced: you can now train and finetune on your data! It uses masked diffusion + a fragment library to craft valid SAFE molecules, from de novo design to lead optimization. #GenMol #DrugDiscovery #Biopharma

Last bit of rant for the night (insomnia sucks): Humans make things. It's your birthright as a human to be free to make things and be at the helm of your own destiny. Anything that reduces agency in exchange for convenience is an act of misanthropy emboldened by greed.
