I was carded with gin, vermouth, and campari. I did feel compelled to ask the cashier what kind of pretentious underage drinker is mixing negronis.
if you buy weird enough alcohol they do not even card you

"I'm gonna add a Russian to the crew to depict a peaceful future, and also give him a Monkees haircut to appeal to teenage girls" was the most wonderfully goofy late 60s thing Gene Roddenberry did. R.I.P. and hope heaven has plenty of nuclear wessels.

he was, among many achievements, an incredible poster. may his memory be a blessing.
Bill Shatner is not a friend but his work on Boston Legal cannot be disputed. He brought a great deal to his performance.

All of you are too emotionally detached if you're claiming this stuff has zero emotional impact on you. I had great vibes with someone on a first date and after texting for a bit she said she was too busy to date. It hurt to see her on a first date a few weeks later!
dude I matched with last week is at this bar all over some other girl I love modern dating

Dating apps (which are evil) are machines that produce crushes. It hurts to see a crush with someone else. Not complicated!

Not sure what “deliberately obtuse” means but I don’t think I am being it.

Like something doesn't have to be devastate or even "wrong" you to feel affected by stuff like this. It's just a bummer and Twitter is just a public diary, everyone should just chill out a bit.

I love super early European reactions to the reality of the New World from before they'd really had a chance to process the whole idea. That Albrecht Dürer journal entry where his mind is totally blown after seeing Aztec artifacts is one of my favorite historical snippets.

I wonder how many English words there are whose English spelling is identical to their IPA spelling (broadly construed). Spa comes to mind

Kicked out of Starfleet for cultural insensitivity. If you must know, I asked the replicator for a "White Klingon."

Something crazy in Search for Spock is that Christopher Lloyd's voice is immediately recognizable. Except he's speaking Klingon.

The Pokemon episode "A Ghost of a Chance" was originally titled "The Tower Inferno." But it released in the US a month after 9/11. But now it shows up on some services as "A Ghost of a Chance (Title Changed after 9/11)." Which is too long for the title of an episode of Pokemon.

John Boorman has a good line about this. When you make a film, you’re turning money into light. But the real trick is that you have to then turn the light back into money.
Filmmaking can never be ethical. You are stealing light and sound and putting it inside a little box. That is not nice
