In our unfolding battle with AI, we are obviously fighting our own fears. Not metaphorically, but literally. Our fears are in the texts on which our AIs are trained.

Another good day for press freedom, similar to what happened in Hungary when Orbán lost. Will anyone at Fox News apologize or resign for being state TV if the Democrats sweep the midterms?
📺 “We reported events one-sidedly for years”: Serbian TV apologizes to viewers after Vučić's party loses the election
Radio Television of Vojvodina (RTV) opened its news broadcast with footage of celebrations following the Student List's election victory — scenes it had failed to show the previous evening.
“For years, we failed to fulfill our duty. We kept silent, turned a blind eye, reported events one-sidedly, and failed to ask the necessary questions. For that, we owe our viewers an apology,” news anchor Goran Eror said.
Following the controversy, RTV's acting editor-in-chief Nenad Čačić resigned.
A similar incident occurred in Hungary, where state television also apologized to viewers after Viktor Orbán's election defeat.

Today, Norway’s Jonas Gahr Støre and Finland’s Alexander Stubb called Putin directly, in consultation with Ukraine, ahead of planned talks in Abu Dhabi. Both reaffirmed their support for Kyiv. These are NATO neighbours of Russia whose security depends on what happens next. They were speaking for their own countries, without a mandate to represent Europe as a whole.
But the initiative points towards something Europe urgently needs: to conduct its own diplomacy while keeping Ukraine central. Supporting Ukraine and speaking directly to its aggressor are entirely compatible.

This chart is insane. This shows Russia's casualties over time compared to Russia's territorial gains in Ukraine over the last five years.
No sane or rational person would say continuing the war to try and take more of Ukraine's territory is worth the casualties.
I think @elonmusk is a prime example of someone who is intelligent but was never properly intellectually challenged by peers. And now he is taking his own thoughts and views much too seriously. And that is a dangerous situation, because he is the richest man in the world.

Same old story. Free speech is essential until they control the platforms. There’s too much billionaire money in politics until it’s their money. Too much debt until they’re in charge of spending. The Dems are too soft on defense until it’s time to kiss Putin’s ass.
If this is true, Hegset deliberately (= intentionally and knowingly) enables Russia to kill Ukrainian civilians. This responsibility level is one below him killing those civilians himself.

Exactly.
I don’t know all the policy positions of Lula, Machado or the Serbian students; some I know that I do not support. But that’s the point. Democracy is a process of allowing voters decides who rules. It’s not about who wins. Yesterday, the democratic process in Serbia and Brazil got stronger. Hopefully Machados return to Venezuela will lead to democratic restoration there too.

This is so intelligent, I want to cry: The 140 seats won by the student opposition against Serbia's nationalist government party will be taken up not by students, but by academics, professors & public figures from pre-chosen pool of 250 experts, selected by student plenums.

I said it before: @Kasparov63 does not need many words to say a lot.
Truth.
I am confident in saying this, there is not a single leader of any nation that actually respects Trump. A few may fear the power of the US, but that isn't respect. Others, like Netanyahu & Putin, play him like a fiddle, that isn't respect. America's allies are disgusted by his antics, that isn't respect. All, see his stupidity, corruption & willful ignorance, perfectly called out by Mark Carney. There is no respect, don't fool yourselves MAGA, the world is shaking its head, or laughing at you & your worthless buffoon of a leader.

She is absolutely right. Calling Hitler a left-wing socialist is not analysis. It is the far right looking into a mirror and demanding that someone change the label on the frame.
The leader worship, the scapegoating of minorities, the contempt for democratic restraints, the obsession with internal enemies, the promise of national greatness through intimidation: an uncomfortable amount of the political sales pitch looks familiar.
Hence the rebranding. If they cannot bear what the mirror shows, they can rewrite the caption.
Unfortunately, Elon, the mirror is working perfectly.
