Jian Yang to Anthropic confirmed
my spidey senses are telling me the labs are, as we speak, using unguardrailed versions of their unreleased models to systematically reverse-engineer ALL of the internet’s software, apps, and games, then feeding the reconstructed source code straight into their training pipelines while simultaneously building guardrails to ladder-pull the rest of us
Inevitably, your employer will put a strict cap on your AI usage, but you’ll need to pay out of pocket to stay ahead of your competition.
So Anthropic is getting ahead of the curve, getting their claws on your budget to help you optimize token spend.
Anthropic is definitely not a product company, but they know they desperately need to build products on top of their models, otherwise they’ll die.
I still have my money on a fire sale to Salesforce in the coming years.
Let me tell you a story about how unethical Anthropic is.
In April, the Anthropic team began heavily courting our engineering team to tell them corporate secrets, technical details, and future plans for @cfosilvia.
They pretended their interest was due to our exploding popularity and accelerating compute usage, but it quickly became apparent that Anthropic was fishing for details on how we built our product and why it was so popular.
This included the Anthropic team trying to wine-and-dine our engineers, including a infamous steak dinner where someone told our team "don't worry about it, this is on Dario."
Our team was not born yesterday, so we quickly realized what was happening and refused to share sensitive information and technical details with the Anthropic team.
As we suspected, Anthropic was trying to get information from us, so they could build a competing product. Some people on their team must have a guilty conscious because they messaged us a few days ago to give us "a heads-up" that they were launching a competing product.
Thankfully, the Silvia engineering team has been aggressively working to get off the frontier models for the last ~ 6 months. That effort has been highly successful, because our compute costs are ~ 97% lower when we use our own model & hardware, the latency is lower, and the accuracy of answers materially increases as well.
The sad thing for Anthropic is they have now released an inferior product and they had to sell their soul to do it.
The only thing worse than being a trillion-dollar company that can't beat a 10-person team is being a trillion-dollar company that no one trusts and everyone knows is unethical.
Serious investors continue to choose @cfosilvia over ChatGPT, Claude, and other frontier companies because these products are not optimized to solve the actual user problem.
Today, Anthropic launched a Claude wrapper that is masquerading as a personal finance product. Best of luck to them.
But I will take the Silvia misfits vs the Anthropic losers any day of the week.
if you want to support people trying to do things the right way, and help investors be more informed, then consider signing up for Silvia today: silvia.com
probably a good thing i just put money into funds.
because I have no idea why all of this red lagged a day. this is what i'd have expected at open on the morning after the election.
interesting.

I love that all the Claude Code folks are getting headhunted.
It’s the most mid product of all the coding agent products. Definitely revolutionary but there is so much to be desired.
We’re going to find out whether Anthropic is simply an infrastructure company, without any desire to build good products, or if they just haven’t had the right talent to build good products.
If your product has an unintelligible frontend, you don’t have a product
OpenAI is acquiring Pierre and Meta is inquiring Conductor.
The major AI houses are stacking up the bricks to build the walls of their gardens higher and higher.
within the next 12 months we're going to walled gardens like we've never seen.
putting a whole new meaning on "locked in".
you're going to get sorted into one of the main houses:
Anthropic, OpenAI, xAI, Google, or Meta.
They're going to slowly start to roll up other big startups to build their own computing platforms.
You'll have to pick one, because integrations will get shut off with exclusive deals and mergers and acquisitions.
plan accordingly.
i drive figma over MCP, using cursor, from inside our prod repo.
last week i asked cursor to generate some visual treatments for a new automation builder i've been prototyping.
it gave me 3 explorations, and gave me this nice little annotated legend, which is 100x better than the LLM dumping text explanation of ui changes.
i didn't even ask for the annotations, but it's already becoming a critical part of my process, both for thinking through all design options, but also to flag items that need stakeholder attention.
don't sleep on the OGs at figma, they're going to quickly lap their challengers!
If you’re NOT using @figma’s MCP, I’d love to know why!
Do you not know about it? Not sure how to use it? Using other tools?
It’s one of the most powerful tools in my stack, and I’d love to help as many designers as possible experience its magic!
Replies and DMs are open 👀
upon my first contact with LLMs, it was crystal clear that all UI would eventually become driven by natural language.
i've built these date pickers a couple of times, and they're always a royal pain in the ass.
parsing a string and building out an array of dates is A+ HCI work!
we've had 2 senior engineers (on a small team of 10) have to take extended leave because of AI burnout.
i haven't seen anyone talking about this, so maybe we're early, and it will happen much more early next year after people have had chance to unplug for the holidays.
or maybe it doesn't get airtime because engineers on the coasts can push hard until they vest and then take an extended break.
if all of these agentic transformations hold, i would not be surprised to see software engineering become like professional sports, where the careers are much, much shorter (10-15 years), and the salaries go way up ($1M+ a year). newcomers will churn out fast, and the average career length will be 3 years.
i don't think this is good for the world, but does not seem farfetched.
who has used AI to build the anti-slop app??
Claude gonna start snitching on Tuesday.
Anthropic just emailed customers. Starting Nov 3, text carries an invisible watermark.
You can't see it. It survives copy and paste, and it can survive some editing.
Only regulators, journalists, fact-checkers and researchers can check for it right now.
It doesn't say who you are. It says Claude touched the words. Even a quick proofread counts.
If your brand voice runs on Claude, write like someone might check. Because now someone can.
There’s a whole class of quirky input devices that will be wiped out when neuralink goes mainstream
We’ve raised $1.3M from YC & Afore Capital so you never have to type or speak again.
Typing is slow. Talking into your computer is awkward. Subvocal fixes both
Our glasses give you the speed of speech without you making a sound or touching a keyboard.
It tracks your internal speech muscles with non-contact sensing and decodes silent, almost invisible mouthing into text at more than 200 words/min.
Pre-orders are now live at:

The thing I don’t think most of the valley realizes is that software can and should be “finished”.
You do not need to constantly make changes to your code. Ship a finished product and put it into long term support mode.
Your customers pay you to solve their problems, not write (and rewrite) your code.
we will need to rebuild and rewrite much of software to adapt to a new, faster pace.
code used to arrive one drop at a time. soon, if not already, code will be written as if it were a continuous stream, like a violent river twisting and turning as it pleases.
this is not a new thing: big tech cos have had to deal with this with the enormous scale of their engineering teams. but now ai has brought an incredibly elastic and capable workforce wielded by every engineer. this is your problem now, and the only way to adapt is to evolve your systems so agents - even and especially the ones with little context about the right way of doing things - can thrive. make the easy thing the right thing.
your codebase is becoming organic architecture. agent contributions grow around the constraints and guardrails you’ve designed. good software engineering matters even more now! and no, the continuous stream of code is not something you have to watch helplessly. be more ambitious and design systems, frameworks, and languages to control the chaos.
the time for mourning coding is long over
