Canada is just five big banks, two grocery chains, and three telecom giants in a puffer down jacket.

Yesterday, I attended a conference at which an influential financier shared this unpublished map. Look at it. The estimated death toll is 2-3 *billion*; the timeframe is 20-30 years (previously: 50). Segments of the elite have simply 'written off' large parts of the Global South.

Women married to men LOVE to complain about husbands, but few admit that being married doesn't live up to the hype that our society places upon it. We are drowned wedding culture & expectations for women to be married all while utterly unprepared for what marriage actually is.

I don’t think anyone but obsessive writers realize how exceptionally difficult it is to utter simple, disarming, straightforward sentences

Holding strong opinions in the face of weak evidence is a sign that you're not thinking critically. Conviction should follow the facts, not precede them. What you want to believe shouldn't dictate what you believe. A key to lifelong learning is valuing curiosity over closure.

More than 300 bookstores have opened in the past few years — a revival after a pandemic slump that is meeting a demand for “real recommendations from real people.” nyti.ms/3PtAxMs

Taking a moment to appreciate that the top story on the Guardian today is about Vancouver’s beach logs.

Shoutout to conference-goers everywhere who say they tried so hard to avoid me. Except when they were eating. And drinking. And with really good friends. And at that one event off-site where everyone else was unmasked so taking precautions just would have felt AWKWARD. 🦠 ❤️

Hospital attorneys everywhere in states where abortion is now illegal will decide when you are sick enough for an abortion, and having been in that situation in 1999, I can tell you the legal standard will be running a code. Like death in 2 minutes.

I have COVID for the third time. My last case was only 18 days ago. My best guess is that I got both of these infections at large, fun, unmasked social gatherings.

I was just asked to be on The National to discuss Roe and abortion...and then I found out it would be a panel with a "pro-life/anti-abortion" voice. I am livid and sent this reply. I couldn't care less if this means I will not be asked back to the CBC. It needed to be said.
