Does anyone know who is advising Anwar this poorly? Waze has been around since 2009. Acquired by Google since 2013. FWIW, the open source project, FreeMap Israel is the precursor to Waze.

Weird codex error: Error: account/read failed during TUI bootstrap: account/read failed: failed to load workspace requirements: other error (code -32603) The fix was: codex app-server daemon restart This was with latest 0.164.0. Also had to hit ctrl+c to get out, it would not respond to /quit

Highly recommended.
An update here: we’re upgrading all Codex for OSS grants to Pro 200! There will still be the 10,000 grants in this round, now at the higher tier. (If you've already received a grant, the upgrade should be reflected automatically.) Applications are still open :)

Considering Wordpress, drupal, etc are powered by PHP, I’d estimate PHP powers 70-75% of the web. Let’s not forget all the EOL stuff that’s also running out there. Important time for an update for sure.
The PHP security team is giving advance notice: Upcoming security release Wed, Oct 21st 2026, 14:00UTC, two critical vulnerabilities, both rated CVSSv4 9.2. PHP users are encouraged to prepare to update. Earlier release if details become public or active exploit evidence.

Would read this. Foursquare, and Swarm, are great apps. 17 years. I think there are still many loyal DAUs. I hope Swarm survives, think of all that history.
Foursquare was acquired last month. The outcome was disappointing. It's taken me a while to write this, but I think I'm finally done grieving it. Here are some thoughts on our final years, an effort to honor the team who helped build & maintain FSQ's legacy, and my attempt to finally get some closure. teendrama.substack.com/p/som…

Tibo is teaching the average user that one never has to worry about quotas ever again. Most definitely will want this to continue beyond 28 days. Efficiency will keep on coming, you already get so far with gpt-6.1-sol almost never budging that quota.
Day 15/ Nevermind, we're still cooking... and reset. Enjoy.

Grok Bot only makes phone calls if you're in the USA using the Bland AI API. Not so easy if you're going to ask it to make reservations in Malaysia, or acquire a +60 number. Similar with Singapore with a +65 number. So it seems online reservations are preferred.

"The idea is that open weight AI models can finally incentivize pro-social behavior on social media." Can AI policing help improve discourse, in general? Can we apply this to other parts of society? Do we then truly get ruled by matrix multiplication? What are the implications?

Tested Gemini 4 Argon. In the web interface, it does seem quite token hungry, and ever ready to give you animations, etc. Makes things very interactive. Also defaults quite quickly to getting Python code to run for you. Via Cursor, had it do a simple task, about 888 insertions into a mature codebase. Did a review remediation via GPT-6.1 Sol, so it added another 382 lines. Did a root cause analysis as to what went wrong? A test did encode a bug, didn't check for edge cases, missed cross-module severities, and closed task before spec was fully completed. Then I read the code, like an animal. All is well. The run consumed a good 38% of Cursor's other model use (on the $20 plan) on Gemini 4 Argon medium. So I guess it is a bit expensive. Kind of a disappointment that Antigravity from Google will serve you Opus 5.5 and Sonnet 5.5 on the $20 plan, but expect you to pony up more for Gemini 4 Argon. The logic that you can chat with their frontier, but not code with it, seems a bit amiss (and I'm sure it will be fixed soon). So what does $20 buy you now? No longer the frontier fully on Gemini. No longer the frontier on Claude since Fable isn't there. Only OpenAI ChatGPT offers frontier Astra at this price point (I am not counting GPT Pro which has never made it into codex).

Is this the change? github.com/openai/codex/blob… turns .jsonl to .jsonl.zst in your ~/.codex - we love zstandard Tools that previously read .jsonl need updating if so.
Day 9/ We've rolled out optimizations to how we store state on disk for the chatgpt & codex desktop app that should reduce the amount stored on disk by 60%. Small ship but we've heard enough feedback about power users running out of disk space.

From yesterday, most common issue with gpt-6.1 sol on codex has been "selected model is at capacity. Please try a different model." Surely this must be showing up in the OpenAI telemetry.

Gemini 3.1 Pro came out February 19, 2026. As a reminder, Facebook still had only Llama then, we enjoyed GPT-5.3-Codex then (solid), alongside GPT-4o & o3 (superb), and we were already using Claude Sonnet 4.6 that week. A lot has changed since then…

People should read this beyond just the “emergency brake” headline. It’s also not him exactly worrying that if Adobe’s suite can be commoditized, Office suite will be too. are we forgetting we had the gimp & OpenOffice/libreoffice for decades?

Opus 5.5 got released September 22, 2026. It apparently did not take long to create a "clean room" replacement for much of the Adobe suite in Rust. Which now means you can run that suite without a subscription on Linux. $ADBE probably hasn't realised this yet. Expect lawsuits. But I can't wait to see how this unfolds. Democratising software for all. We once had to get pirated codes, which SaaS prevented, and now we have LLMs just decompiling it to give you equivalents. I wonder how many tokens & what it cost for such reimplementations. @get_artcraft Read their launch announcement reddit.com/r/SaaS/comments/1…

Airbnb PR must be working double time for this. Airbnb started off like a nice idea - a better couchsurfing experience. Then it became commercial. But most of the commercial spots are cookie cutter motel operators trying to sell you what is effectively a hotel experience by price. This mismatch is why Airbnb mostly fails, and I'm glad @levelsio and the rest of the thread is calling them out. People will eventually skew back towards hotel chains. It is inevitable. Less hassle. It is a product you'll expect. And for Pieter, there are kitchens in hotels - long stay ones exist, and also big suites at the 5*'s. But maybe all they gotta do is provide you an air fryer (in USA, if you ask, they give you a kettle; some will extend to a microwave; the air fryer is just the next step).
We remove reviews that violate our policies, and hosts can't delete them. Only guests who actually booked the stay can leave one. Ratings on Airbnb skew high partly because we remove listings that fall short of guest expectations.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Hosts cannot directly delete reviews but can dispute guest ones for alleged violations, often succeeding per policy and user reports of removals despite compliance or refunds. airbnb.com/help/article/3… airbnb.com/help/article/2… elliott.org/advocacy/airbn… x.com/JackEllis/stat… x.com/shiju_thomas/s…

Awful take, just read the thread. .doc: 1983 .docx: 2006 Markdown is great, love it. It’s not going to give us print & pagination fidelity, we’re not going to have granular revision tracking in git for the general population, what about layout complexity & the non-technical barrier? (And I’ve worked on these file formats back in the day with OpenOffice & the Open Document Format)
I give it 5 years until the last docx will be phased out for Markdown. Computers are for agents now, and token-efficient representations will dominate. It's going to be Python, Markdown, and JSON all the way down.

CTOS so casual about being hacked. Sure they filed with bursa malaysia 23 September 2026 that they had an incident. What about the users of this credit reporting agency? What actual data leaked, and where is it for sale?
