They told us to “go paperless to save the planet” and “go digital to save the trees.” Now we’re destroying 250,000 trees, wasting millions of gallons of water and wrecking ecosystems to build data centers that will damage the planet more than paper ever did.
Does any leader in the Western world give a damn about the civilians of Gaza? Not Hamas, not those who seek to eliminate life, just those who wish to live in relative peace; not in an extermination zone! Why won't they separate babies, children, humble men and women from Hamas?

One of the most impressive relics from ancient Athens is this massive polygonal wall located on Pnyx Hill. Some of the stones weigh as much as 40TONS
Interestingly, we don’t know who built it – but even more curiously, it was left unfinished. Why would they abandon its magnificent construction? And why does it appear so heavily weathered? 🤔
Archaeologists assume its construction was ordered by Greek lawgiver, Lycurgus, approx 2,300 years ago. Pottery found behind the retaining wall dates to his time. Additionally, modern archaeologists claim they likely abandoned completing the wall to “focus on other projects”. But I’m not sure I buy that…
Most people have never seen or heard of this amazing site, I’d say it’s certainly worthy of more attention. For perspective, that’s me in the photos, and I’m 5’10”

The Rhind Mathematical Papyrus is the oldest manuscript written in algebra and trigonometry, dating back to 3,550 years ago.
It shows that the Egyptians used first-order equations, geometric series and a second-order algebraic equation, related to the Pythagorean theorem a² + b² = c²
It also describes how to obtain an approximation of π accurate to within less than 1% and one of the earliest attempts at squaring the circle.

The British starved Ireland and then cited Irish poverty as evidence of Irish inferiority.
The Belgians extracted the Congo’s resources for a century and then cited Congolese underdevelopment as evidence that Africans needed to be governed.
The Americans sanctioned Cuba for 66 years and then cited Cuban economic difficulties as evidence that socialism doesn’t work.
The structure is the same.
It has always been the same.
You remove the conditions necessary for success.
You wait.
You point.
You conclude.
The only thing that changes across centuries and continents is who’s being pointed at.

Here’s your regular reminder that the Ancient Egyptians were an advanced civilization:
The MAX lifting capacity of this excavators bucket is 75 Tonnes. The Egyptians transported a 1,000 Tonne statue hundreds of miles. That’s over 13X HEAVIER than the capability of this modern technological behemoth 🤯
*Note: No, we would not use an excavator to transport a stone. However, this comparison is meant to illustrate the truly profound and inexplicable accomplishments of the Egyptians. The mystery is real 💯

The UK averages 159 rainy days a year and ranks fourth in Europe for rainfall volume. The last major reservoir was finished in 1992. Since 2017, the privatised water companies have sold off at least 35 reservoirs and bulk storage sites. The government have now been warned that “Day Zero” – empty reservoirs – could arrive before Christmas.
We are a damp island that somehow managed to privatise the rain, sell off the storage and then act surprised when the taps run dry. The corporations took the infrastructures, paid the dividends and left us with a hosepipe ban and a warning about water rationing at Christmas.
And meanwhile, successive governments let this happen while enabling enormous data centres to guzzle up huge amounts of water and energy
Yet another example of the UK being turned into a corporation asset grab at the public’s expense. This is not just government negligence. It was a choice.

Doc Watson invented the idea of the guitar as a lead instrument in bluegrass. Decades later, Billy Strings carries that torch, and you can hear it here.
His cover of Bob Dylan’s “Don’t Think Twice” follows Doc’s arrangement, note for note.
The flatpicking lineage, alive and well.

In 1967 Britain had more electric vehicles on its roads than every other country on earth put together, and they were all delivering milk.
There were tens of thousands of them. The milk float: open sided, battery under the floor, top speed of about 15 miles an hour, and a whine you could pick out in your sleep. It was charged overnight at the depot and was back there by lunchtime.
It carried glass bottles. Each one was collected from your step the next morning, washed and refilled. A bottle went round like that 20 or 30 times before it broke. The foil cap went for scrap. There was no other packaging.
The milk had come from farms within a few miles, through a local dairy, and was on the step before 7.
So here is what the country had. A zero-emission delivery fleet. Reusable containers with a return rate any modern scheme would kill for. No plastic. A supply chain you could cycle the length of. A man who noticed if an old lady's bottles were piling up, and knocked.
It was dismantled in about 15 years, because a supermarket could sell milk a few pence cheaper in a plastic jug as a way of getting you through the door.
Every piece of that system is now the subject of a government target for 2040.
It was running in 1967, silently, in the dark, and nobody thought it was worth a mention.

Bassist Tim Commerford confessed that at first he thought "Like a Stone" was a romantic song and only understood the real meaning when Cornell explained it! It was the second single from Audioslave's debut album and became the band's biggest hit: #1 on the Billboard Mainstream Rock and Modern Rock charts, #31 on the Hot 100 and is, to date, the most streamed track of Chris Cornell's entire career (over 1 billion plays on Spotify).
The video, directed by Meiert Avis, was shot at Jimi Hendrix's former mansion in Los Angeles, the same place where Hendrix composed "Purple Haze"!
