This is not very reassuring! 😅
Though, to be fair, the @WordPress MCP adapter ships with only a few read-only abilities. It relies on plugins to register new abilities that allow AI to do more.
Our Block MCP for example is now the main way I interact with WordPress.

When Coverfly shut down, Killer Shorts lost the platform that ran its screenplay contest.
Contest director Alison Parker rebuilt it on her own WordPress site with @gravityforms and GravityView!
You content might be misleading LLMs, and therefore your customers.
I ran pre-sales questions by ChatGPT, Gemini and our own chatbot.
Where the site answered a question clearly, the engines got it right 88% of the time. Where it didn’t, that fell to 63%.
Audit your content!

Vibe coded my parents' TV this afternoon!
It was showing a sponsored ad before you could even get to Netflix.
Gave Claude Code the model number, it found the TV on wifi, removed 25 Xiaomi packages and wrote a new launcher.
Looks like an Apple TV now lol
Most AI search tools measure whether AI mentions you. But that's not nearly enough.
You also need to know if AI is giving your buyers the RIGHT info about your products.
I built a tool to check that, hosted on @SpacefastHQ for my team to use.

If you thought only open-source software was easy for AI to copy, think again.
REA lets an agent decompile a closed-source app and rebuild its features (212k GitHub stars).
Features are no longer a moat.

The old WordPress marketing funnel: publish good content, Google sends traffic, some of it converts.
Now AI reads your content and answers the question directly. The visit never happens, so neither does the conversion.

Ohh beat me to it! I've been planning to run a study like this! Super interesting.

It's cute that Claude still suggests something will take "a few days" to build. No, you'll build it in an hour 😁
I let Claude loose on @SpacefastHQ, @automattic's new AI publishing platform (cc @batuhan). Here are my early thoughts on the platform that @photomatt called "what I think is the future of WordPress and AI".

Bud Kraus @joyofwp asked me what my superpower is.
I said delf-directed learning.
Bud's verdict: I'm unteachable. I'd go with impatient 🤣

Spacefast creator here.
We are trying very hard to discover new ways to build with WordPress. We are calling that project Zero, and Spacefast is the first place with support for it. Most of this vision is not very visible yet, because we don’t want to make a big noise before we know where it’s going.
As a community and as a project, we need to try new things and see if they work out and we can’t be stuck in our ways.
More and more people will build on the web and they all deserve to build and publish on the web with the same ease and freedom WordPress gave all of us for years.
WordPress is core to everything we are doing at Automattic and Spacefast, and just because we are trying out new ideas doesn’t make it less defendable. If it wasn’t defendable, we wouldn’t be building on it.
Everything related to WordPress and the Spacefast runtime will be open source and well documented, and will run elsewhere. No vendor lock-in, ever. Not every host will be supported but everyone will be free to add support. For context, we use a lot of TypeScript and Rust in the flavor of WordPress we are building, and have a higher PHP version requirement.
It’s not yet reached a stage where I am comfortable bragging about it. We are constantly experimenting every day.
I don’t know if this take will be successful, I would be happy if it inspires people to take WordPress into new, exciting places.
How software is built is changing, and WordPress doesn’t seem to be the best fit for some portion of how people build today and new sites coming online. CMS ecosystem in general is experiencing this and it’s not a WordPress problem.
We need to explore. WordPress isn’t just a thing, it’s a movement, it’s a collection of ideals, it’s a community. Shape of the thing might evolve, doesn’t make it less WordPress.
#WordPress product companies are adding hosted services, usage credits and standalone SaaS versions of their plugins. Here's the evidence, and why I think the shift is about outcomes and lock-in 👀

EmDash CSM v1.0 lands! 👀
Not an April fool's joke, but a serious project that has had significant work go into it. Not to mention "a plugin repo without a landlord" 😬
I messed around with it a bit when it was first announced—I'm excited to play with 1.0!
📣 Marketers, stop asking “What’s the best AI tool?”
A better question is:
“What should AI know about our company/products that it can’t currently learn from the public internet?”
