The ICU has been busy snapping away! 📸 The team recently ordered a Polaroid camera to take photos of themselves to stick to their gowns, so that their awake COVID patients can see their lovely faces underneath all that PPE. :) A bit of fun for all during a difficult time!

Just a note to say that you don’t have to pinch both nostrils when you have a nose bleed. Just press 1. 😉

Don’t wait. Vaccinate. Any vaccine, but get it now.
Getting vaccinated against COVID-19 significantly reduces your chance of going to hospital. Of people with COVID-19 who are currently being treated in hospital, almost all of them are unvaccinated and none of them are fully vaccinated.

Scanning COVID-19 everyday..but not all the B-lines confirm and not all the asymptomatic positives have no pneumonia. We need careful observation to give power to LUS. I heard from someone that LUS is too sensitive..this is simply stupid!

The FAST exam is often the first ultrasound exam we teach. But... It is useful? Check out Mike and Jacob as they discuss how the FAST exam can and should be used in 2019. #FOAMed #Meded ultrasoundpodcast.com/2019/0…
Great post Kelvin. I totally agree. PoCUS WAS binary in the beginning, but we are evolving beyond that (machines are so good).

Great to see IM #POCUS colleagues adding to the evidence that supports #POCUS use! #POCUS is by the people, for the people!
IM residents detected LE DVTs using #POCUS with similar sensitivity and specificity as radiology-performed exams but 10 hrs earlier in a pilot study (doi.org/10.1016/j.chest.2018… ) #IMPOCUS @benjikmathews @ria_dancel @SonoInternist @G2Disrupt @medmanny @IM_POCUS @IMSonoSC
You got this Peter! I think the money is the simple stuff - lung-sliding, B-lines and effusions ... Consolidation and lung point is next level ... Then always finish with a look at the heart!

Definitely. We're being asked by our ICU colleagues to teach that idea specifically to their students. CXR takes 45 min to ICU at best. POCUS takes a minute or two right at the bedside...no contest! Change CAN happen!

PoCUS sonographer educator is not just a retirement option for the injured. There is much to learn about the clinical application of the tool. It is a very challenging but rewarding option! #ASA2018SYD
