I would hate to be y'all's friends, simply not going and planning a dinner with them earlier would have sufficed, Tweeting about how you passively aggressively think I'm doing too much for my birthday & getting people to shit on my birthday plans bc you & ur husband suck is nuts
My friend wants to plan a couples, no-kids weekend getaway, splitting the cost of a large AirBNB, in January for her 30th birthday. I really do not love this idea (husband is mortified), neither to spend the money nor to get someone to take the toddler for 3 days. It would be a 2.5 hour drive away for us, too, so it’s not like we’re close if something happens. I haven’t been away from him for even 1 night yet and he still just seems so young! It would be very hard to leave him for that long.
Am I just a party pooper who needs to get over it? Genuine question. Like I actually need advice here guys

Today is my aunty's birthday. She died last year from COVID. Twice infected at church, the second time fatal. We didn't agree on a lot, masking and COVID safety included, but I loved her and miss her very much.
this discourse is kind of fascinating bc i avoid using childcare as a covid precaution (which is not even a consideration in the 'post-covid' fake reality)

I love when doctors say to "avoid stress" as if we can just unsubscribe from this shitty world

it’s honestly humiliating at how fast humans are able to devolve once something “convenient” comes around. we’re meant to be the smartest living things on earth, and all of a sudden, we’re nothing without artificial intelligence that ruins our surroundings and environment 💔

The monster has people masking around him to keep him safe, but your children who have been forced to catch it multiple times are told it’s nothing but a cold. You got played, you failed your kids.
they think 'the who/cdc said so' or people's general lack of care is an explanation

Those who refer to ‘after Covid’ never explain how or when or why Covid allegedly ended,

the anti party people think they’re being noble and selfless but really they hate that the party is still happening without them, that’s why the consensus is becoming “well it’s bad to care about your birthday anyway!”, people want to decline your invite and not feel FOMO

One of the most damaging myths of viruses that's spread is that once you get it and your body fights it off you're fine and that's that. Your body has the antibody and you're all good, we were taught that throughout school. The reality is that every infection can do long term dmg

Like… cancer, HIV, and ionizing radiation don’t feel like much of anything at first either, which is why you have to rely on testing and precautions instead of your senses. Covid’s the same way in that it also often does its worst damage quietly and cumulatively.

It is NOT normal to catch viruses all the time. If someone gets sick more than 2x/year they may be immunocompromised. Most dont even realize it or understand they need sophisticated blood panels to find it.

They make it sound like it is normal to get multiple Colds during the colder weather months. Why have a 1st one at all why not just masked and try for 0 "colds"

You got people calling your friend "obnoxiously self centered" for wanting to celebrate a milestone birthday because you're too scary to say you can't/don't want to go.
too bad the us villainized prevention. pretending covid is over was always gonna lead to this
There is something really concerning (and disappointing) going on in the US right now.
A dangerous and preventable situation.
Let me explain.

Relatable. I made my school codify my right to provide and wear my own masks at work, and they've gotten mad that Ive not reported students for masking in my class after they've "lost the right to mask". HR thought I was silly but every day proves me correct
