Date for you diaries - illustrated talk from @pete62jackson at #Wellington History Group on the #Cinderloo project. 18th May 2023 7.30pm
202 years after Tom Palin was hung, #Cinderloo finally has a name plate to recognise the lasting legacy of the people who fought for social justice 2 centuries ago
Miners memorial unvielded in Town Park. Terrific work by the Granville boys and all who have made this happen @telfordlive
Thanks to @IronbridgeGMT for hosting @cinderloo1821 exhibition in 2021/22. Here is brilliant short film 'Shadows in the dust" using pieces from the exhibition to re-tell the story

1/- Cinderloo - in 1821 - 18months after Peterloo in Manchester England miners in Shropshire struck and were also attached by the yeomanry. Lots of local activists and amateur historians worked for the 200th anniversary but it was wrecked by lockdown.

Brilliant tribute to Malcolm Peel talking and teaching about the subject he knew best - mining, miners and and its importance to our area. Thank you at @HeritageMartinP @telfordlive @TelfordMemories
As with Cinderloo, Malcom Peel left us a legacy, including this stimulus film for schools. He helped plan & appeared in it. “Exploring Our Coal Mining Heritage” vimeo.com/heritageschools/ex…
Thanks @HeritageMartinP we will pass your great tribute on to his family
Deeply saddened by news of Malcolm Peel’s passing. Malcolm was a hugely significant part of success of #HeritageSchools around T&W & West Mids. One of our esteemed Granville Boys, Malcolm visited 20+ schools, speaking to 1000+ pupils, exploring #Shropshire #coalmining #heritage.
We are saddened to hear that Malcolm Peel has died at home this week aged 79.
Malcolm provided much of the narrative to the Cinderloo story with his family history research, local geographic knowledge and understanding of mining and miners helping to piece together the story
Likewise Andrew good to meet you and John at the James Hammett grave stone. Great work by you all to keep history and justice alive
Good to meet and greet Peter Jackson of @cinderloo1821 at Tolpuddle Old Chapel this week. Enjoy his blog post - ' A postcard from George Loveless to Tom Palin'. George was one of the Dorsetshire Labourers and founding Trustee of Tolpuddle Old Chapel in 1818
Great work from @WordSparks and @JillImpey creating map poems in #Dawley. Thanks to @CllrShaunDavies and @GreatDawley for supporting the project

Calling it Tolpuddleloo would have made a lot of sense as a chapter in labour history ended and a new one began. Thoughts? @kmflett
The #TolpuddleMartyrs were *defensive of the Freedom to think, speak and argue
Their memory *prevents the tyrany they opposed returning
The restoration of the @TolpuddleOCT *perfectly represents the legacy they left behind

We are really sorry to hear this sad news. Geoff was an active supporter of the Cinderloo project with his wife Rachael.
Our thoughts are with Rachael and family at this time.
Setting off this morning from @TheDawley at 10 where we started the Cinderloo project. This is a new great way to find out about history right under your feet in Telford. Get involved – at Lawley, England
We will be setting off for the #Dawley #touchtelford #benchmark walk this morning if anyone fancies a leisurely walk through time. Meet at Elephant & Castle @TheDawley at 10am
