1/- Cinderloo - in 1821 - 18months after Peterloo in Manchester England miners in Shropshire struck and were also attached by the yeomanry. Lots of local activists and amateur historians worked for the 200th anniversary but it was wrecked by lockdown.

David is my MP & I'm afraid this is very poor stuff. He appeared on the same platform as Corbyn at the Bernie Grant Centre in Tottenham on 13th March 2020 (I was there) to mark the 20th anniversary of Bernie's death. Corbyn was the keynote speaker. Rewriting history doesnt work
David Lammy apologises for nominating Corbyn to be Labour leader theguardian.com/politics/202…

It was a pleasure to see the fruits of all the hard work put in by Pete and all the other group members over the past few years to promote public interest in an important event in our shared history. Sadly, I now have to disown Cerys for joining the yeomanry.

#touchtelford A section of the original surface of the Roman Road that we recognise as Watling Street that linked Dover to Viroconium (Wroxeter). It sits within a cobbled section of Market Street, Oakengates and is walked upon everyday.

It coincided with the 200th anniversary of the execution of Thomas Palin for his part in the uprising, which arose because of a dispute over unfair pay for workers.

200 years ago today Tom Paulin was hung at Shrewsbury jail. His crime? Trying to free protesters on wage cuts who had been seized by the Yeomanry. The event was named #cinderloo An echo of Peterloo in 1819. kmflett.wordpress.com/2021/0…

Appeals for Thomas Palin's sentence to be commuted to transportation to the New South Wales colony have been rejected by the Home Secretary, Lord Sidmouth. Those seeking clemency included local business leaders whose property was damaged during the disturbances in early February.

It's Saturday 7 April 1821. Barely two months after striking coal and iron workers faced the military in a violent confrontation in Shropshire, one of the ringleaders is to be executed later today for the crime of rioting. Thomas Palin will be hanged outside Shrewsbury jail.
