@JohnHealey_MP I am livid about Jackdaw - More emissions! Shell pays little/no UK taxes, UK taxpayers have funded their new gas rig & the new Adura structure shields future profits. Few jobs, 2-6% of our gas needs. Who benefits? SHELL! NO ROSEBANK @StopCambo @AlisonJThompson

Jackdaw is justified because we'll use the gas in the UK. Rosebank is justified because we'll export the oil. And our children's future is being destroyed.
Ministers are considering approving the Rosebank oilfield as it won’t breach the UK’s targets - the emissions will all be abroad Who knew the atmosphere respected national borders? Perhaps we can solve the climate crisis by outsourcing the entire thing theguardian.com/environment/…

How did these two giant boulders end up atop a 15m cliff in Eleuthera, Bahamas? One theory: superstorms caused by an AMOC disruption at the end of the last interglacial. We're entering another AMOC disruption now - with unfathomable consequences.

Plants feed the world while animal farming destroys it. Livestock uses about 80% of the world’s farmland but provides only 17% of our calories and just over a third of our protein. Pathetic. Imagine what we could do with even a fraction of that land back.

My first piece for the Guardian on why the Serbian student movement should be studied accross the globe: "The WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange once told an interviewer in Belgrade that Serbia was “a country where the future happens first”." theguardian.com/commentisfre…

Sorry, but this is absolute nonsense. The reason people haven’t acted on climate change is because the massive amount of disinformation being pumped out from most of the media that for decades has said it’s probably not true. The opposite is true. This woolly false hope forced positivity mentality is exactly why people don’t understand it’s the existential life-and-death-billions-of-us-at-risk crisis that it is. theguardian.com/environment/…

All Brazilians need to see this. If the Brazilian Amazon gets much smaller, its whole system will tip and much of it will become savannah. Catastrophic for Brasil and the whole world. In other words, if Bolsonaro Jr wins the election, the Brazilian Amazon is doomed.

After the Southport stabbings, imam Adam Kelwick took burgers and chips to a crowd outside his Liverpool mosque and ended up hugging one of them. Since then he’s taken protesters’ families and Muslim families on the same coach trips. Real connections between people beat hate.

This is Joel. He used be an airline pilot. First he gave up flying for his holidays but kept flying planes. Eventually, he couldn't deny the damage the aviation industry is causing anymore, so he quit his job. If Joel can give up flying, so can you.

BREAKING: Amazon deforestation has fallen to its lowest levels since records began. If Lula retains the presidency, the Amazon could be saved.

By 2020, trust in Taiwan’s government had climbed to over 70%. How did they do it? vTaiwan, a virtual platform for citizens’ assemblies, allowed everyone to get involved in decision making and gamified the process of finding consensus.

Even seasoned climate activists don't know about the very near term (1.5-2 degrees warming) tipping point risks of the AMOC collapse for Europe and the rest of the world. This fact is terrifying.

Speaking tomorrow at New Scientist Live with Profs Behrens & Seddon. The Paris climate challenge is not a matter of urgency, but of emergency. Urgency seeks to accelerate change; emergency demands a fundamentally different policy & technology agenda. live.newscientist.com/speake…

It's most important policy set by @TheGreenParty conference. While Labour suggest stocking up on tins, Greens would start a Strategic Food Reserve - like all sensible governments. Plus fair minimum farmgate prices and the option of temporary price caps on essentials in a crisis.

If you join @TheGreenParty, you can propose a new policy. If enough members support your motion, it will be debated at conference. If conference votes for it, it becomes Green Party policy. It's not a perfect system but it's democratic, unlike other political parties.

"RAF" Fairford is actually a USAF base. The US Airforce currently operates from 12 main bases and facilities officially titled under the RAF across the UK. Operational bases include Lakenheath & Mildenhall, the remainder are Intel bases- making England the prime target in Europe.
US bombers on British soil making us a target for their enemies. Close down all US bases in the UK immediately.

‘Not acting on climate change means a certain World War in the lifetime of anybody born from now on.’ Scientists explain that climate change is a far bigger threat than governments are telling you:
