Ugh, all this SwiftUI goodness makes me wish I still did iOS full time. I need to find a project to use it.

If you cancel a meeting 30-60 minutes before it starts remember a parent has been planning their entire day around that time. Respect the calendar.

App Store should replace screenshots with static SwiftUI views (à la WidgetKit). Screenshots would reflect your device, locale, accessibility settings, color scheme, etc! And it's even LESS work for developers to provide this BETTER experience. Seems like an obvious win.

Wow, what a first week @Shopify. It’s like a 🚀. The amount of information to take in is tremendous, but I can’t wait to get started implementing my first feature. 😊

Today marks the end of my 5+ year career @HODINKEE. It has been truly a privilege to work with an amazingly hardworking team on some very rewarding projects. Looking forward to what the next year holds for them.

If you are a senior engineer that loves to work on native iOS and or Android apps, @HODINKEE wants to hear from you. My DMs are open for questions about the position if you have any.
I can’t tell you how many interview processes I’ve gone all the way through, on-sites, paid work examples, etc., that did not provide any feedback at the end. Not only do you feel defeated and drained, but are also left with nothing but questions and insecurities.

This is brilliant. Kicking myself for not thinking of this before. So simple.
New article about using functions to quickly replace singletons, in order to make code testable without having to create any new protocols or mocks 👍 This technique has enabled me to easily refactor lots of legacy code, hope you’ll find it useful too 🙂 swiftbysundell.com/tips/quic…

My biggest request for iOS 14: write-only photo library permissions. I shouldn’t have to give perpetual read-write permission for an app to save a photo, often only once or twice.

More recently at Square @rjrjr and @zachklipp have been working on Workflow: github.com/square/workflow It's not driven by Views, and our engineers genuinely enjoy writing (& testing) business logic in UI less state machines. And yes, a backstack is just another state machine.

Do you speak Kotlin? Enjoy working with the Android SDK? If so, @HODINKEE is looking for an experienced Android developer to help us expand to the platform. Would initially be a contract situation, remote folks are welcome. If you're interested, my DMs are open. RTs appreciated!
