wrangling the omniverse @ @RujiraNetwork

PSA: I started here and I continue here in order to build products that make users’ lives better, create a fairer and more equal financial system, and most importantly build a system of ownership that can be accessed by those very same users. These principles are what drew me to build on Ethereum in 2016, drove me out in 2017 when ICO mania was its (first, as it turns out) complete antithesis, and was the single foundational demand I made when I re-entered the space and we founded Kujira in 2021. It’s been our north star ever since. It seems they’re being tested again. Let me be clear, we have the conviction, the tools, the runway and the mandate to finally see this through and I do not plan on going anywhere else. We are fortunate though, we have an incredible mission-led team, and a shared experience, history and learnings from the last ~10 years of building on blockchains, and the resources to execute. But tested they are. This isn’t some hype driven disillusionment like ICO mania, NFTs, hollow VC chains with inflated valuations, or meme coins. It’s easy to attribute those to hype, greed, the general human condition. Instead it’s a quieter, more insipid meta. Well respected teams selling out and abandoning token holders. Founders moving on without any regard to the communities and token holders that put them in that position. I understand that markets and times are hard these days. I’m sure for some forgoing those core values in order to stay alive is justifiable. Unfortunately as the proverb goes - the road to hell is paved with good intentions. However, through all of this, my original statement stands. We do this in the open, together, and for each other, or we don’t do it at all. We continue ⚒️

UPDATE: It appears @tether has unfrozen THORChain addresses. Trading/etc will resume soon
It appears that USDT has chosen to blacklist THORChain vaults of USDT on the TRON blockchain. This is unprecedented in our industry and raises questions for all DeFi protocols about the safety of this asset.

Think we'll be ok 🧑‍🍳
Are you prepared for, not only how you'll trade, but hold, your Cosmos assets when Osmosis and Keplr Wallet close down? I give both 6 months tops. 1) Osmosis. No secret it's moving on. Community pool OSMO is being burned. Community pool BTC is being used to plug the recent exploit. 2) Keplr wallet. No posts on X for 5+ months. Stopped supporting new chains already. Costs of supporting the wallet outweighting revenue. Be warned.

Thorchain is fighting a good battle. They made a lot of mistakes along the way, but they are still here, stubbornly defending core crypto principles.

Chad with all the composure in the world 💪
. @CBarraford did amazing in the most hostile ambush ever and they couldn't even find a way to clip him to make him look bad despite doing the most; it actually won me over to the THORchain side of this "debate" whereas I was a bit skeptical before . . .

I'll never understand founders like Pacman. Incredible standing in the market with top protocols like Blur and then Blast, the best investors backing him, all the attention you could possibly ask for. And instead of building something huge and lasting out of all that, rather decided to max extract the shit out of it for a quick buck in the short term. Too many such cases, unfortunately. Which is exactly why we should appreciate the few brilliant, honest builders so much more. the ones who refuse to take the path of least resistance. If you find one, just go perpetually long.
Blast will be shutting down. We launched Blast with the goal of building a self-sustaining chain for users and developers. Unfortunately, the economics of operating the chain no longer make sense: the ongoing costs of maintaining Blast exceed the revenue generated by the L2, and we do not see a credible path to making the chain economically sustainable. As a result, we've made the difficult decision to wind Blast down. We're sorry to the users and developers who believed in Blast, built on it, and supported the ecosystem. Our priority now is making the shutdown as smooth and safe as possible. We're asking all users to withdraw their assets from Blast to Ethereum mainnet, including any balances held in the Blast PWA. To make this easier, we will be reducing the withdrawal delay to 24 hours. As part of the shutdown process, we'll first begin withdrawing Blast's Lido assets. This process is expected to take approximately one week. During this period, withdrawals will temporarily be unavailable, even after the withdrawal delay is reduced to 24 hours. Once that process is complete, withdrawals will resume with the new 24-hour delay. Users will have until October 26, 2026 to withdraw through the normal Blast interface. After October 26, assets will remain withdrawable, but users will need to interact directly with the Blast bridge contracts on Ethereum L1. We'll publish detailed instructions before then. We strongly encourage everyone to withdraw their assets to Ethereum mainnet before October 26.

Human motivations are funny hey You get oppressed, and so you Fear the thing Fight the thing Replace the thing Become the thing Then without moral direction, ultimately become the oppressor …or just get paid by the original oppressor to lie for their own gain

+ 2d zero response despite the exactly correct person coming forward to speak @laurashin is bought & paid for. Driving a singular incorrect narrative. Disappointing. Going forward, just make sure all y’alls assessment of media and discourse considers this incentive model

Another banger example, two days after Tayvano (scroll my page), of people working in crypto who have no idea, or have forgotten, the one and only purpose of this entire industry: Censorship resistance. This time it's NEAR, top to bottom: the founder publicly proud of intercepting transactions, and an ecosystem rep whose entire counterargument was calling me an NPC. The founder mistakes a freeze button for a feature, the staff mistakes name-calling for a defense, and the whole org runs on bullshit all the way down. To get what I mean, let's go back to the way-back. Ethereum's original homepage said "Build unstoppable applications." Apps that run "without any possibility of downtime, censorship, fraud or third-party interference." Censorship is named in the founding sentence, and "unstoppable" is carved over the front door of this entire industry. If you'll notice, it's the pitch, the promise, and the product in a single word. And back tf off the "you'd sing differently if you got hacked" reply, because: My project Swarm City held funds in the Parity multisig. The code was bad. We lost 42,000 ETH. Price that at today's market and appreciate the tuition I've paid to the church of immutability. Almost nobody on this app has eaten more hack fallout than me, and I'm still in the pews telling you censorship resistance is non-negotiable. Notice, too, that the freeze button doesn't even solve the problem it's sold on. Interception happens AFTER the money's gone, every time. You know what actually stops hackers? Platforms that don't get hacked. Harden your systems, Gracy! That's literally your job at Bitget! Can't understand why you still have one. In a sane world, you lose nearly $400M of customer money, you get fired. Now, NEAR wants a freeze button? Fine. Build your chain. But then the honest pitch goes something like: "Look, we're a bastardization of the crypto ethos, we know it, but hey, we're a solid 30% better than a bank." "Yes, we're embarrassed about it, but at least in this one instance we can do some good. Human liberty? Unfortunately that's not what we do, we'll have to leave that to better men than us. If it's important to you (we understand if it is), go find someone who actually gives a fuck." See what I mean? You have a freeze button? Sell it with some humility. What you don't get to do is intercept transactions and then get self-righteous about it, as though the freeze button were the crown jewel of the technology it LOUDLY betrays. This tech exists for one reason: human liberty. Every freeze button, however righteous its first use, waits for a less righteous hand, which is why everything short of censorship resistance is drift toward control. Not here for that? The banks are hiring.
If you CAN censor, you WILL censor. Today it's hacked funds, you think you're cool with that because theft is immoral. True! But tomorrow it's transactions to and from the truckers in Canada protesting totalitarian government overreach. At least you'll know how you got here. But you know what else stops hackers? Hardening your platforms so you don't get hacked in the first place. Bitget, it's your fault for getting hacked. Gracy the buck stops with you. Take some accountability.
