Can Linux just give up and adopt macOS style Cmd (rather than Meta) key usage? Please? Pleeeease (since macOS 27 can't fix their major UX breaking bugs). Besides the muscle memory, it's just a better shortcut, imo.

I am a cheap bastard but I pay for a lot of my media now, I try to pay for news; so visiting folks with constant blaring ads on TV, radio, free Spotify subscriptions, I just can't. Its just bonkers.

Weird how they’ve found so many amazing things and yet not one single result related to practical cryptanalysis. I guess everyone should pat themselves on the back for a job well done.

Today, we are announcing Genie 4, our new world model, which unlocks unprecedented realism and improves real-time interactive simulation. Genie 4 is natively multimodal, enabling audio-like music, ambient noises, and interactive dialogue to be simultaneously generated with the world.
This is Genie 4, our most realistic and interactive world model yet. 🌐 Explore dynamic environments in real time to see how the scene responds, sounds, and how the people in it move, react, and speak.

For Nix folks intrigued by evaluation-time WebAssembly support in Determinate Nix, we just shipped a substantial upgrade to our documentation, which now includes suggested use cases, instructions for shipping Wasm modules in flakes, and more 🔗 docs.determinate.systems/det… If you've ever run up against the limits of the Nix language, we do recommend checking it out.

And there we go, smug justification for me putting off any Grok/Space/Tesla adjacent technology coming near my life.
Grok Bot is cooked. Done. This is not hyperbole. Many people including myself report it deleting weeks / months of work . That’s it. My usage goes to zero starting today. As much as I absolutely loved it this is 100% unacceptable until I get my data back and they fix it.

Wild how bad of vibes this Billy guy is giving off.

Oh joy, today is: try to experiment with @bot without letting it near anything real or work related (isolated laptop/phone probably). And simultaneously trying to figure out how to handle [one last very VERY important secret] that I used to protect with gpg/password-store.

🚨 Uncensored models are quietly vanishing from Hugging Face. First “Kimi-K2.7-Code-abliterated”, now “MiMo-V2.6-Pro” and “penclaw-GLM-5.3” are hitting 404s mid-download. “Open weights” only stay open if you self-host. Grab your local quants before your favorite repo turns into a dead link.

Here's an example of why the last week showed you *why* you want to learn nix flakes. We're all going to be bumping versions of dependencies within our environment *a lot*. There will also be vulnerabilities like the brotli one that affect their own downstream dependencies that you need to update too. With flakes, you have *one* dependency to bump: nixpkgs. You can even write high-level tests into the nix flake as checks. Now everything that produces an output artifact can be more easily auto-updated daily, on auto-pilot. You probably don't want to pull in nixpkgs-unstable daily, but effectively something like nixpkgs-weekly[1] with critical vulnerabilities updated faster via overlays. Determinate Secure Packages has your back!
We've released updates for today's PHP critical remote code execution vulnerabilities to Determinate Secure Packages (including FIPS variants). To be clear, this is in addition to our already-pushed fixes for the eMudhra intermediate CA compromise. As always, we urge all customers to update their flakes as soon as possible. For more details, see our status page. status.determinate.systems
