The ability get absolutely knackered and still keep your wits is a high status signal

Sam Altman reveals the AI math breakthroughs left him with sadness and a feeling of something ending "I'm actually probably not supposed to say this, but I will since we’re drinking" "The name of the channel was: 'Model Name-Hold My Beer.' And people were just throwing that at the hardest problems they could" "Two nights in a row, I was up most of the night because I was so excited I couldn't go to bed" "But I also had much more sadness and melancholy, and a feeling of something ending than I was expecting" "It's more than nostalgia"

Vol is cheap
AI is creating so much volatility right now, which you can see everywhere except in the volatility statistics.

And when everything looks like a both gift AND a bubble it’s time to buy vol
Everything looks like a gift in a bear market and a bubble in a bull

Everything is grift
Last night, someone asked me “What do you plan on doing next?” I told them the truth. I’m running for president.

The industrial-scale financial destruction of young men, now being marketed as community building.
Sports are better when they’re social. We recently launched chat for every game, and it’s been so cool watching these little communities come to life. People sharing picks, reacting to big moments and talking sports together. 🏟️

Long convexity
honestly have no idea what frontier lab equity is worth; it seems highly plausible that huge top down slowdowns are coming, which would make frontier models uncompetitive. total nationalization also seems possible. anything could happen with this technology

Genuinely incredible how I would consider these guys the most brilliant minds in macro, but their total lack of discernment for what is even real makes every "take" they have questionable at best.

We are all so tied up and distracted in our daily lives we haven't had time for an honest discussion about how serious this is -- that a vast swath of Americans are seeing false (and intentionally misleading information) and then going about their day without EVER realizing that what they saw was fake. This kind of ignorance and confusion is driving us to live in entirely different realities from eachother, and makes any hope of having a discussion over what is "real" harder to have with every passing day. Social media and mainstream news only fan the flames. Unfortunately in the modern era you need to be questioning almost everything you see. Do not react emotionally, THINK critically. You are being bombarded with propaganda everywhere you turn your head. Until it becomes obvious that you are under a constant state of psychological warfare, you'll be living in a state of disassociation with fact or truth.

One of the companies benefitting MOST from the AI craze is laying off a meaningful chunk of their workforce because they just don't need the employees. And people think jobs won't be affected. Insane.
🚨 $MSFT MICROSOFT IS OFFERING BUYOUTS TO 60,000 EMPLOYEES That's about 27% of its 223,000 global workforce. Data center teams are excluded The stock is up 1.1% so far today🟢

Helen of Troy was known to do the same thing
Margot Robbie in her teens/late teens/early 20’s was wild. I’ve heard many such stories about her over the years. Girl loves the booze! 🥂
