Ditto. Unpopular opinion: If you think RTO is going to fix the reason why you cannot innovate anymore, I have bad news for you. You will lose the top 5% who used to innovate by enforcing it. nitter.gq/sarah_edo/status/18360…

Ok I know everyone puts a case on their phone but I can’t possibly be the only one to notice this. iPhone 16 is possibly the wobbliest slab phone I’ve ever seen 😅

99% of Puma installations should be running with a thread count of 5 or less.
High thread counts:
* Increase memory pressure
* Increase db connection count pressure
* Increase average latency
Only a very special class of high I/O apps should do it.

TEN MILLION LINES OF CODE. That's incredible. GG Gusto ✌️
The Rails monolith at @GustoHQ just crossed 10M lines of code with Ruby Code:Ruby Test ratio => 1:1.4.
Who says Rails doesn't scale?

And here’s the source for all the doubters. Harris is ahead of Trump n Pennsylvania and her campaign is only getting started. Don’t be surprised if you start seeing close to double digit leads in many states for Kamala Harris. It’s happening!

As a senior individual contributor, part of how you get things done is always going to be black magic. In companies where there is an established senior IC population, this is a pretty well understood reality. In others, management will try to micromanage you or count some arbitrary artifacts.

I didn’t know this kind of speed was possible in PHP. The author starts off with an execution time of 25 minutes to handle one billion rows and then shows us how he got it down to 27 seconds. Absolutely remarkable.

Ok, this is it. Went to Glassdoor and am removing every single past contribution (salary, review, rating) I made.
The point of Glassdoor was that they keep all this anonymous. The company doxxing people is not something I want to contribute to.

A lot of senior engineers are going to find themselves coerced into becoming team leads with management responsibilities, just to provide relief for managers with too many direct reports.
My suggestion is to be open to trying it. But confirm with your manager that you can go back to IC work if it doesn’t work out, without negative repercussions.
It will give you perspective, insight into decision making, and most importantly, much needed support for more junior folks on your team.
