Burnham using his father's death to indirectly justify his denial of Scotland's right to democratic self-determination is an absolutely appalling piece of judgement. Is he being advised by 12 year olds?

Burnham's cynical linking of the death of his father to his opposition to Scottish Independence - in the same sentence -
is about as low as politics gets.

After 20 years of independent cultural journalism and with a very heavy heart, September’s edition of The Skinny is our final issue 💔

every clip from a junket interview is now some soft spoken british nerd talking to an actor/director going “before we begin i wanted to tell you that as a child, i wrote in my diary how i wanna be you when i grow up and i’m gonna read it to you right now”
Fuck this. Fuck the BBC.
Social media posts claim that parts of Glasgow's city centre are a "no-go zone" where it's not safe for unsuspecting members of the public to enter.
For a week in June, BBC Disclosure filmed in the city centre to see for ourselves.

regardless of how you feel about music journalism and how bastardised the concept has become thanks to influencers and content creators, seeing real ones like brooklyn vegan go under is sad as hell. we all found some absolute gems because of them

Consolidation ruins culture. Nearly all the workers at BrooklynVegan, Alt Press, Revolver, and Goldmine have been laid off thanks to parent company Veeps, owned by (you guessed it!) Live Nation.

While music journalism as a whole has painfully devolved into clickbait, content and paid advertising over the last decade or so, it is very sad to see passionate, skilled writers trying to keep these outlets alive ultimately be gutted by their unqualified corporate ownership.
Thank you to the talented and thoughtful minds who kept covering hardcore & independent music at @brooklynvegan, it did not go unnoticed by me or my peers.
Thank god for that. Justice served. England would have been THE worst team to ever make a World Cup final.
Wrote some words about Sam Neill today. Such a seismic figure in New Zealand cinema.

Norway 🇳🇴
Sovereign nation
Scotland 🏴
Annexed by a hostile neighbour
Only with the restoration of our sovereignty can we hope to emulate Norway.
Even the Faroe Islands 🇫🇴 have better youth football facilities and infrastructure than us and a lot more autonomy.

It's so dispiriting dealing with a couple of the majors these days, some have no passion for the music like they used to. Artists lose quality coverage
Having a high school level of writing ability gets you book deals these days, it seems. This is a horrible read.
Scotland used to have it all, in football terms.
Had the Ballon d'Or been in operation since the formation of association football in the 1860s, and was always global, it would be a three-way race between Scotland, Brazil and Argentina for the most number of wins over the years. The likes of Nick Ross and Alex James mean little to modern supporters, but these were amongst the best players in world football in the early 20th century.
But a decades-long obsession with England and a reluctance to engage with the game's growing internationalism has cost them dearly.
They are the biggest underachievers in world football.

For Scotland who hosted the first international, invented the modern passing game, had multiple European Cup winners, a Ballon d'Or, and by far the highest % of domestic attendance… to never get out the group at a World Cup is shameful. Well done to the SFA.
