Oh no they tried to do this to Toni Morrison too for the dedication in Beloved (“Sixty million and more”). Shameless.

AI is a product of the hatred of labor and it should be given no quarter. Solidarity against the dumb machines!
Despicable. I refuse to outsource my knowledge work and let my critical skills erode. (These skills include the empathy, advocacy, and ability to synthesize a student’s contributions that go into writing letters.) We innovate and strengthen our faculties through failure, working through boredom and tedium, making mistakes, and struggle. Hello?

i was on a call with some profs and several of them, sheepishly, admitted to using AI regularly for lit summaries, for writing student recs, for writing methods sections for grants. academia is really going to hell.

What do you even say about Gaza at this point? Our collective humanity was lost there. We are paying for the starvation of two million people. Women, children. This is barely remarked upon. A monstrous evil unlike any I’ve seen before in my life.

Last night, @SEIU projected this over the Boston Common to send a clear message: in the face of fascism, labor won't back down. We will continue to call for the immediate release of our union sibling Rümeysa until she is free!

Cory Booker broke a filibuster record with a 25-hour speech about moral courage and resisting fascism, then turned around and voted to arm a government committing genocide.

So many losers seal clapping at a computer regurgitating soulless pictures for them and pretending it’s ✨REVOLUTIONARY✨
It's been 24 hours since OpenAI unexpectedly shook the AI image world with 4o image generation. Here are the 14 most mindblowing examples so far (100% AI-generated): 1. Studio ghibli style memes

First you fired our union president. Now you cancel bargaining 2 hours before it was set to begin. Columbia admin, is this what you call bargaining in good faith? Was our rally too much to handle?

To my colleagues at Columbia: if you were wondering where the rubber hits the road, this is where the rubber hits the road. I beseech you not to act like this is business as usual or it will indeed become business as usual.
Where are Columbia faculty? All those who hide behind anonymous letters of “solidarity” with students? Your students have been arrested, expelled and now having their permanent residency revoked - what are you doing? What are well-positioned, wealthy sympathetic alumni doing?
