how are you supposed to explain that the Deptartment of Education is posting nods to alt-right pedophilic gender-swapping fanfic without sounding like an insane person
People were leaving cities before the crime wave happened. Cities were crappy places to live in during the mid century. Those with means to commute into the city via cars left. What was left were hollow cities with the middle and upper income people needed to make cities thrive.
Replying to @nickbii10 @constans
Your reasoning leads to a politically incorrect (but true) explanation of gentrification: Gentrifying neighborhoods weren’t originally built by impoverished minorities, but by middle/upper middle class people who left when urban crime increased and came back when crime decreased.
The reason why economists today aren't Marxists is largely due to the fall of the Soviet Union. Soviet economists tried quite hard to do central planning and failed. The whole project fell apart, like many other projects in econ have ended.
MV=PY is an accounting identity. Demand side recessions are caused by fluctuations in V - call it animal spirits - so the Fed can smooth PY by changing M.
HK has a fixed change rate with USD, so changed in monetary policy impacts inflation there and subsequently the real economy
Sutro Baths should be rebuilt in the same location and be built exactly the same as it was.
Decline and decay is a choice.
Connie Chan was the sole "No" vote on this legislation btw.
The SHADE Act has been passed into law today by Mayor Lurie!
Over the past 10 years, over 2000 units of housing have been blocked or delayed because NIMBYs said the housing would cast a "shadow".
So we're done letting red tape cast shade over our housing future. The SHADE Act will no longer allow shadows be used as a basis for environmental appeals. It will save between 3-9 months on some environmental reviews and up to $25,000 per project in reduced staff, consultant, and administrative costs.
We can protect our parks, respect our environment, and welcome more neighbors. We don’t have to choose. It’s time to let housing projects see the light of day.
Thank you to all those who helped turn this into law. My cosponsors Matt Dorsey, Danny Sauter, and Myrna Melgar. My legislative aide Raynell Cooper, all the incredible members of the Planning Department including Lisa Gibson, Lisa Gluckstein, Ryan Shum,Kei Zushi, Tania Sheyer, Debra Dwyer, members of the Mayors Office including Ned Segal and Adam Thongsavat, and our drafting attorney Andrea Ruiz-Esquide.
The main YIMBY argument is that the housing crisis is caused by restrictive zoning in *high income areas* of cities, and that displacement is due to it being illegal to build in those neighborhoods.
The ur purpose of zoning in America is making income restricted neighborhoods.

This is the note you find in an Umbrella lab before you’re attacked by a zombie dog.
JUST IN: Palmer Luckey's genetically modified military dog startup, Warhound, comes out of stealth, aiming to create enhanced canines for the U.S. military.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
This is NOT Palmer's company at all, his company Anduril is only supplying the tech for the dogs, and this is a wholly owed Collosal entiity
