Seats are split by each person's share of points when the mainnet snapshot is taken, among those who are eligible. So a late start is payable, but only in GEN.

Topping the leaderboard is not the same as being ready. Node seats are validator slots backed by the Foundation's own GEN, and validators are the operators who run the network. As I read the @GenLayer thread, there are two gates.
Gate one: Staking Points set your share of the seats at the mainnet snapshot.
Gate two: a node running at least 30 days on Clarke, the testnet before mainnet.
Aiming for 10 seats means 10 nodes side by side. Host them yourself or pick a node-as-a-service partner, and they stay yours either way.
My take: check your node plan before you check your rank.

Attested is not the same as accepted.
On @vangrid_io a capture can be fingerprinted, batched, and anchored on Base, and still never get paid. The attestation gives the network a record it can verify. Acceptance is the buyer opening the preview and deciding whether the orbit matches the brief.
One is a receipt the network can check. The other is a decision about whether the capture meets the buyer's requirements.
A clean fingerprint can still come with a missing wall. A capture can pass the quality check and get rejected because the room has already changed.
The receipt proves something was recorded in the system. It doesn't prove the buyer got what they asked for.
So if your capture is attested but still unpaid, where is it actually stuck: buyer review, reconstruction, or payout?
