Wesleyan SurveyLab CT poll illustrates how pocketbook concerns that typically land at feet of an incumbent are not scoring for GOP's Ryan Fazio against CT Gov. Ned Lamont. Ya see, there's this president... ctmirror.org/2026/10/15/ct-w…

Unlike the statewide races, where only 2 candidates are on the ballot. The Independent Party is running their own candidates in the 3rd and 4th CDs: Thomas Egan and Benjamin Wesley. Mary Sanders is running in the 1st CD under the Green Party for the 3rd consecutive cycle.
For the first time since 2002, no separate Independent or Third-party candidates are on the ballot for Governor. The Independent Party cross-endorsed the Democrat or Republican nominee in all statewide races. So all 5 statewide offices will be a two-way race.

Republican nominee for Governor Ryan Fazio says the race is much closer the polls say. He says Lamont is still not above 50% in his polling. Quinnipiac was slightly more blue in 2022, but not by a lot. October Poll in 2022 was Lamont +15. Lamont won by just under 13.
Correct. Way closer. Quinnipiac polling is notoriously bad and way Dem leaning in its results every year. Lamont is still not above 50% after eight years and over $50mm spent in reputable/real polling.

Something to think about… Fazio has spent nearly $10 million on TV ads, mass text messaging, mailers, and campaign infrastructure in an effort to get his message out there. 30% of voters say they haven’t heard enough about him to have an opinion.

Last election’s Quinnipiac Polls had Lamont 57-40 in September and 56-41 in October Final margin was 56-43, so it very likely could end up being a 59-41 or 57-42 race. Given that the 2022 environment was slightly better in CT than it was elsewhere, only +4% isn’t surprising.

Though statewide/federal races all favor Democrats, margins for Governor will come into play for the State Legislature where there are a number of competitive seats. Democrats, who have supermajorities in both legislatures, can see them grow even more if Lamont wins by 20.
Two polls yesterday, two slightly different pictures. Quinnipiac puts Lamont up nearly 20 points, potentially the largest Dem. gubernatorial victory in CT since 1958. Emerson has him up 13, closer to 2022, suggesting blue states may hold steadier in November.

What’s the longest streak a politician has gone without facing a party primary? Sen. Richard Blumenthal hasn’t faced one in his entire career, including his time in the State Legislature and as AG. His 42-year streak could end in 2028, and he doesn't act like he's retiring.
US Representative Brittany Pettersen, from Colorado, has somehow never been challenged in a primary a single time, ever, in her entire career. Also never lost an election.

Pat Dillon (D-New Haven) was the longest-tenured state legislator in the country to lose a primary this year. Dillon took office in January 1985 and served nearly 42 years in the 92nd House District before losing to former New Haven Alder Eli Sabin.

Connecticut makes the list, with Democrats holding the Attorney General’s office since 1958. They’ve had a few close calls, including 1970, when Democrat Robert Killian edged Republican Donald Dorsey 50.1%-49.9%. The only other single-digit race was 2018, when Democrat William Tong won by 6.
After a few hours of research, I have found the answer to this question! The longest winning streak for a political party in one statewide office belongs to the Republicans for winning every single election for North Dakota State Auditor since 1894.
