Botanic Ave. in Belfast looks amazing - now they’ve removed the on street parking, pedestrianised and planted mature trees. Well done @belfastcc - visionary!

It enters the hall of fame – taking it's rightful place alongside all the other bogus strategies & plans that have promised to decouple transportation policy from the private car. A pattern appears to be forming 😁 New minister… same vision. @petermartindup @PMcReynoldsMLA
Infrastructure Minister Liz Kimmins has set out a vision for a more sustainable, inclusive and resilient transport network. The Minister was speaking as the Transport Strategy 2035 was published and as she launched the consultation of the draft Eastern Transport Plan (ETP) 2035. More details here: infrastructure-ni.gov.uk/new…

From the department: • unwilling to close a cobbled street in CQ. • extending free parking to 2 hrs in Lisburn and Newry • yet to implement any recommendations from the @NIAuditOffice - after “accepting them in full” 1+ year ago. It’s yet another can kicking document.
'The Department for Infrastructure wants to make public transport, walking and cycling more attractive — especially in the city centre — while reducing our dependence on the private car.' Read more: tinyurl.com/yhcjey57

Now that the A5 has been green lit - Active Travel should now play a huge role in balancing the carbon budget. Reminder: @uuponline @duponline @TUVonline all want the Active Travel budget to be scrapped to fix pot holes caused by cars.
Today the @duponline’s @MMcIlveenDUP proposed that the 10% targeted spend on active travel should be scrapped. The party line appears to be… “if it’s safe for cars, it's safe for all”. Big test for the other parties. Elections are coming…

The Stiles Way Greenway is really taking shape at Springfarm.
Update on the new Stiles Way to Springfarm active travel route. This will effectively connect Springfarm to @JunctionAntrim. @AntrimGuardian @roisinlynchsdlp @DeclanKearneySF @cyculcc @WWCTrustNI

Ironically @deptinfra will never agree to giving up that amount of road space for the proposed plaza/forecourt.
Detailed plans have now been filed for the proposed hotel conversion of the former Dept for Infrastructure HQ in Belfast city centre.

Walkable neighbourhoods gone wrong.
The absurdity of modern America cul-de-sac design: an 84-minute walk separates the front doors of two homes that literally share at a backyard fence. (Johns Creek, GA)

Being able to throw your bike in the boot (and sometimes the aisle) of a @Translink_NI Goldliner on a shitty day like today 🌧️ – free of charge – is always worth applauding.

Having climbed this muddy bank a thousand times, this new ramp will make it so much easier for those in Springfarm to access @JunctionAntrim and their neighbours.

They can propose until the cows come home. They have no transportation powers and DfI won’t give them any transportation powers.

1 year ago the @NIAuditOffice recommened @deptinfra establish a co-designed stakeholder forum. DfI told @petermartindup – chair of @NIAInfra – in Jan ‘26 that a forum would meet in May ‘26. Still no forum. ✅ Still no oversight. ✅ Still no engagement.✅ Still no delivery.✅

I’d wager we’re looking at about 1 half of it?

It’s a pity that someone hasn’t been organising something similar in Belfast for the last 14 years.
This could be a great idea for Belfast. Organised “bike trains” from different parts of the city, with people cycling into the city centre together at a set time. Safer in numbers, more social, and perhaps enough to give people who are nervous about cycling to work the confidence to give it a go. Coffee at the finish probably helps too ☕🚲 @cyculcc @WWCTrustNI @CyclingUK_NI @belfastcyclecam

TLDR “While no option has been formally selected or approved for delivery at this stage, Belfast City Airport has confirmed it will work closely with Translink on the next stage of the process.” As you were.

If they wanted to be “disruptive” I suspect they might choose to do it once a week at 8am on a Monday morning. Once a month on a Friday when everyone has gone home for the week looks a poor plan for disruption. As for “sanctimonious”…
I wonder what first attracted cyclists to such a sanctimonious and disruptive get-together
