Let's just be direct. Reform's big policy announcement today is based on one BIG LIE.
Foreign nationals pay in around £24b in National Insurance, and currently take out about £12-14 billion in related benefits.
They are a significant net contributor - but that kind of headline doesn't excite the racists, does it?
The £21 billion figure is completely made up, based on some BS future projections Reform have made internally.
So sick of these grifters taking all the headlines with this utter nonsense.
The GB News watching, steak-eating, right wing populist fascistati are fixating on citizenship.
Surely the country people pay taxes to should pay for any welfare/benefits (if claimed) that are funded from those taxes?! bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cly5…

Complaining about nightlife when you *checks notes* choose to live in Soho is like living in South Kensington and complaining about the museums.
Or moving to Hackney and grumbling about creatives. Living in Richmond and hating green space.
It's all getting a bit silly, isn't it?
It is bonkers that we have spent 28 years to agree to phase down fossil fuels. And then another 2 to fail to agree a roadmap for doing it at #COP30. But good to see 🇳🇱&🇨🇴 band together on this. Great summary by @DoctorVive theguardian.com/commentisfre…
The one time in a month I try to use @TfL underground to get to work I get stuck at green park for 12 mins with no picadilly line in sight and am now late for a work meeting. Yep, back to cycling it is.
Centre-left and left-wing parties would get 59 / 150 seats if this holds. The Netherlands is more right wing than many people realise.

“Artificial Intelligence is increasingly being used to craft messages tailored to the concerns of individual voters, delivered through social media and constantly refined to have the maximum impact.”
Am I the only one who finds that incredibly scary? bbc.com/news/articles/cjel1w…
We live in a world where NATO countries can commit to spend 5% of GDP on defence, but we can’t find 0.2% of GDP to transition to Net Zero. Depressing!

The first real transformation I’ve worked on (and I’m a consultant!)
It’s been great to be part of this consortium bringing together experts from the pharma industry and its stakeholders.
We're thrilled to be facilitating the Pharma LCA Consortium - a collaboration between eight leading pharma companies alongside the @NHS and @BSI_UK.
This project has the potential to transform the pharma industry, and we're proud to be part of it.

That’s only taken us 30 years 😊
“contribute to”, “transition away from”, “accelerating action”, “net zero by 2050” is of course all too vague and weak, and the proof will be in what countries will actually do.
But that 198 countries agreed to this is historic.

Standing ovation at COP28 as almost 200 countries agree for the first time to transition away from fossil fuels

I really hate the word "ambition" in the climate context. "Ambition" is a motivation to do something great, but unnecessary.
Nothing is more necessary than phasing out fossil fuels.
#COP28
We have known since well before COP1 in 1995 that fossil fuels emit GHGs which cause climate change.
Yet it has taken us 28 years to even discuss a #FossilFuelPhaseOut, and it looks like #COP28 won’t agree on this.
Pause and reflect how crazy that is.
“We’re not going to solve climate change through individual change. It’s about politics and central planning. If we don’t tell people that as broadcasters we’re misinforming.” Great point by @AlfLawrie @Channel4 #ClimateCreatives
