When I see young people at a dark, glamorous bar, I want to tell them, “This feels like a long chapter, but it’s going to be one of the shortest in the book.

Funny there’s this legendary, heavily censored movie from the seventies that everyone’s talking about now because it’s just been restored and released in theaters, that’s literally about how fake rape accusations by horny repressed women are used by power hungry bureaucrats to create sex panics resulting in outbursts of mass hysteria.
Anyone who strings together buzzwords like “pedophiles, rapists, traffickers, and genocide” in a single sentence is incapable of thinking for themselves. I used to assume such people were just emotional, but with time I’ve realized they’re often quite aggressive and domineering in their own right.

Her (2013) is still the only good piece of art thinking about LLMs and that's completely an accident
In fact the condescending Indian-brained obsession with status/caste is the best example of cultural incompatibility, and one can observe and remark on it without being racist or motivated by resentment
Sure, I’m not arguing it was a good political ad or that Vivek is a good politician.
I’m arguing that the ad is being seized upon by rw chuds who want to use it as an example of the cultural incompatibility of Indians or something.
The Chuds already decided that Indians make them feel bad about themselves, and then engage in motivated reasoning to rationalize that feeling. I think we should just be honest that the source of anti-Indian hatred is almost entirely based on class resentment from downwardly mobile mediocre white Chuds

In the forward to the “Hellbound Hearts” story collection (2009), Clive Barker writes: “… one of the most complex articulations of […] the Hellbound Heart came from a Russian Orthodox priest.” Hellraiser is said, by its own author to be the titanic price of sin and its limits

🇺🇸 New York City might not be the capital city of the United States, but it for sure is still a hub for diplomacy. No less than 190 diplomatic missions reside in the city, which also hosts the United Nations headquarters.
Fascist????

I cannot articulate why it feels fascist to destroy the art of documentary filmmaking. Another institution that kinda wasn’t a problem. Partially think it should’ve been a reality show??
