A lot of the problem with YA is that it's just not really necessary. 16-year-olds can read almost all fiction--they certainly won't understand everything, but they don't have to. We don't need teenager-specific literature.

I don't like the concept of "LGBT spaces". I realize WHY they exist, but it always felt like just willing segregation to me. It creates walls with society when LGBT people only hang out with each other away from prying eyes.
